I thought it was called Hairy Cari :o TomThe tanto or the wakizashi was used to commit seppuku, a ritualized suicide.
No, that was one of my old girl friends who refused to shave the legs and pits
The other one's spelled hara kiri I think - I'm still working on English (one rule and 12,379,826.5 exceptions :? ) so I'm not sure - but you get the idea, obviously  Steve
Alright I gave my wife a ride to the hair desser today. I thought about what Lou said and thought my buddy was too happy to help :D
Thanks for the heads up 8)
Now I know why people miss updating picks as they progress. IT TAKES TIME TO STOP....
Hope to be ready for the sheet rockers/Gyp rockers/drywalls dudes by next week.
FYI "STILL need some cripples and jacks"
Missed pics of the venting from the silencers, decoupled walls, hot water heater, major wiring, insulation and the pizza being delivered.
Enjoy

Tom
Well they couldn't get the truck up the side drive. Too wet. It has been raining for days. So they started packing it up the hill two sheets at a time one guy and they are 12'. 230 sheets in all. The one drywaller said about 5500 sq.ft. of wall x 2.
I left for work around 11am and they had the walls in CR and the Live room Finished but not the ceiling yet. Tape and mud tomorow and then the final layer with 2x mud. So yeah 4 days to complete.
Salesmen.
I will caulk tonight. and send some pictures your way
Tom
Holy crap! :? My back hurts just thinking about that! 115 trips uphill carrying two sheets of 12 foot long drywall sheets?    Did you tip the poor guy? :P --Keith . . . packing it up the hill two sheets at a time one guy and they are 12'. 230 sheets in all.
Keith I tried but they said it was OK. I did feel for them
I didnt take pics because it was embarrasing
LIKE ROD SAYS...If you hire out the work ......make sure and check progress to make sure they do it right, The gaps on the first layer were as much as 2" at the ceiling. I told them I could not accept this. They were thinking the second layer would cover it up just fine. I told them I would run out of caulk before the first room. Tomorrow is another day. :)
Hope they get it. I called the owner and asked him to come out and look. He said they would take care of it and not to worry. We will see. Might take a little longer than I had hoped for.
Manic Monday
Tom
Way to keep 'em honest, Tom!
Snap some pictures of the 2" gap sins!

Well today is another day and the drywall owner asked his foreman to leave.
So now I have to wait for a new guy in about two days. The owner of the drywall company came out and took a look and felt the same way I did. Feeling justified and dissapointed at the same time. :(
The foreman was an older gentleman that said the angles and the trapzoids were extremely hard to do. But he could fix it with a second layer. Thankfully the owner didn't agree with him. I was getting worried that he might try and hit me up for more $.
So it looks like I get a break of sorts. Have many honey doos around the house I can get finshed. Then I am out of town for two weeks. Yuck
I will post a picture tonight
Tom
Lifes like a box of chocolates. You never know.....oh sorry
Sons basket ball, daughters poem recital, daughters dance practice, inlaws in town for a week, work, sleep and do not forget taking care of the wife. Happily
And then my time, studio time. What little is left I cherish
The long awaited picures of the bad sheetrock job are below.
But just yesterday a new crew showed up at noon and knocked it out beautifully. I started caulking last night after the day had calmed down. Drank my beer, had my marlboro and listened to some breaking benjamin
Ahhhhhh closer and closer I can see the end is near
And the good
Great pictures! Definite improvement between "bad" and "good"!
Thank goodness you were around to catch the "bad" before they covered it up...
This should be a lesson to everyone: WATCH YOUR CONTRACTORS!
Hang in there, Tom! You've definitely got your hands full, but look at how your place is coming along! :D 8)
--Keith
Thanks Keith for the words of confidence.
The end is near
Tom
Third Layer of mud is going on today. And they will sand tomorrow. I told them a level 3 finish was going to do fine just because you wont see much of the walls after the all the absorbers are up.
I already have my paint so hopefully I can get that finished this week so I can move on with finish work.
Finished pulling the last of the cables and wiring. Waiting for some cables to show up in the mail. And I am getting excited.
Send some pics your way soon
Tom
tomvan,
one thing i learned in my build is NOT to use the electrical boxes with the front joist tabs (as seen in Bad1.jpg) ... they make the drywall work a mess...
(although, not sure if they had ANYTHING to do with your drywall problems  )...
looking forward to seeing some paint! and thanks for the kind comments on my post  !
kevin
Kevin,
I only used two of those boxes. They were the original construction outlets. I agree they were a mess to work around.
And the other ones we put in were nailed exactly 1" away from the framing. Some are still buried 1/4" behind second layer of drywall. I seem to recall on another thread someone had the same issues. Not a huge deal but made sure and caulked the crap out of them.
After looking at your lighting I went and bought my lights. Cant wait. I am going to prime this evening when I get home and hopefully have a coat on in a few days of color.
My Girls have state dance competition wed. and thurs. evening so I will be busy.
Tom
Got color.
Hope its not too much but for the live room I will be doing a camel colored material on the absorbers and the CR and ISO's will have black coverings. And a lot of natural wood for molding and bass traps.
But at least I can start the finish work this weekend
Tom
wow that's real intense...or is it just the color balnance of the picture?... my eyes my eyes...
maybe it's just my scandinavian (plain, simple and somber) esthetics that's talking.

It is pretty bright right now. I am assuming after all the panel absorbers and acoustical pieces are installed there will be a nice contrast. 8)
Dark hardwood in the CR, light panel absorbers on dark paint and dark panel absorbers on light paint. Natural pine wood for the bass traps.
Tom
I agree, it'll be a nice contrast, pine sounds nice, I love wood surfaces...

looking good! color is so exciting... makes the room feel like your getting somewhere...
btw... man... it must be nice to be working with some nice equipment... I hate using the wrong tools to get something done... but ... buying tools cuts into buying music equipment!
and I thought that MY WINDOW was big... dang...... i guese i didn't see that one in any of the build pix! do you plan on installing it yourself?
if so... good luck, Rod has just explained things SLOWLY for me to re-install my window.. might be worth the read if you are installing it your self.

Kevin,
I have been closely watching your window thread. Thankfully I have a friend that is a glazer/window installer and he said he would come over when the time comes. I have been sending him Rods feedback from your window thread. He is much in agreement. Yeah the window is 3x7. I will get it finish framed this weekend and then do my measurements.
Who said I had good equipment? I have my wifes hammer and my grandpas saw. Thankfully I have good friends and own a constructon company. What I dont have, they do. I have many favors to return. And have cashed in on some recording favors from the past. Is nice to have good people surround you Tom As much as my wife is excited we are going to Hawaii for ten days next week but actually I would rather stay home now. I am so close to hooking it up :Pbtw... man... it must be nice to be working with some nice equipment... I hate using the wrong tools to get something done... but ... buying tools cuts into buying music equipment
I love the colors, Tom!
I agree that they look pretty shocking without all the finishing work... Lighting and absorbers, among other things, will make a big difference.
Hey, if they end up being too powerful when you're done, you can always tone them down with some sponge-painting... Maybe dabbing some diluted mild gray over the top of it.
My room's going to have some powerful color to it too, I'm sure!
--Keith
Keith,
Thanks for kind words
The boss (wife) came out this morning and gave it a tumbs up. But she already said no Faux painting. The turqoise was the one we both didn't know how it would come out on a large scale. we will see after all the panels and lights are up.
Her big thing was to make it as professional looking as possible. The old studio she said was too fun looking. I had some faux painting in it.
Anyway cant wait to get home this evening and start cutting some wood again.
Tom
