Not sure yet. I'm going to test a few more fabrics I already have, and see what they do. I may go ahead and use that fabric and can always change that out down the road. It's some nice fabric. Just need trim and glass, and we'll be rockin' the control room. Oh, and hvac too... Dont' want to sufficate myself in a hermetically sealed room...
OK...Here's the flame test results I performed last night w/ the different fabrics I have. (I wish I knew what the new fabric was...). OK, the other half bolt of fabric I scored the other night, does have some type flame retardent on it. It didn't like being lit to well, and just burned out. The other wavy green pattern that is on the wall in the iso room...it melts. Burlap...how fun. It burns quick and fast and smolders. Gee, I'd a never guessed that... I knew that was coming. and of course I posted the other fabric results above. So, that's what I've found out. Quite the interesting experiment of the different fabrics and the results. Now for the other question...should I place the darker fabric on the ceiling, and the lighter on the walls? This is what I'm looking to do, especially w/ the amounts of fabric for each I received. And in reading in years past here, having a darker ceiling makes the room feel larger? Thoughts anyone??? Thanks.
OK, Here's the latest... I installed the fabric on the ceiling and also the lower front wall and over bass trap area yesterday. Looks great! And sounds better already. Now just need some trim to finish out around the windows and doors so I can finish the acoustic treatment around the rest of the control room. We're one step closer to being done w/ the control room. :D :D
Holy Moly!!! 40k hits today.    8) 8) 8) 8)
Contratulations, Aaron! I remember when you reached 20K -- and now that's where mine is! Of course... (ahem)... My thread has more posts than yours does -- and I'm not nearly done yet! Mmmmmwahahahaha!!!
I started this thread over 2 years ago now. Gosh, it seems like yesterday, and yet so long ago... :| And congrats on your thread! I'll have plenty more to add as I move forward. I still have the other half to start on. (Tracking rooms). Just getting it prepped now. Replacing the water main and the electrical for upstairs. Removing all that old galvanized, clogged lines, and the old cloth wiring...
OK, todays update includes: I finished w/ 2 coats of Drylok on the tracking room side this weekend. Started tearing out the old electrical, and will be pulling some wire tonight. If I get a real wild hair up my ass, I might even start framing the tracking rooms this Holiday weekend...  :P Yippie! Things are moving right along. Oh yeah, also finished installing the outlets on the rear soffits and for a 2" machine. And cut the ports in the bottom of the rear surround soffits. I expect to have more pix next week hopefully. :D
OK, I have more pix. Just need to scan these babies in. I know, I know, I need to get a damn digital cam. OK, here's the latest. Been an interesting holiday weekend. I finished up the electrical for upstairs (access is in joists above tracking room ceilings), so that's done. The plumbing is done. The drylok is done. I'm ready to finish designing the exact wall layouts for the tracking rooms now. And then start Framing. Needless to say, I didn't get started on the framing this weekend. Saturday night ended up being a little sparky!!!       Reality Check!!! Had a fire at the house. THANK GOD it wasn't the house itself. The electrical transformer outside sparked a wild fire on my property, burning up my retaining walls (creosote logs (railroad ties)). I wasn't home, but got the call after midnight from the neighbor saying there was a fire at the house.     It took out 2 of my 4 retaining walls. Argh!!!! Last thing I need right now. But once again, thankfully it wasn't the house and studio!!!!
HOLY CRAP! You got lucky! Scan in some pictures of that mess, eh? What the hell happened?? :?:
The Fire Dept. thinks the transformer on the pole sparked and ignited the leaves/retaining wall. It's been dry here until yesterday. My neighbor called me about an hour ago, and NES (Nashville Electric Service) was there looking at the transformer. They say nothing looked burnt or might have arched, but couldn't deny it either. Either way, I'd like to get that damn thing replaced regardless. I get voltage variances from 110 to 140 volts coming off of it as it is, and sure don't want the possibility of another fire. May not be as lucky next time (let's hope there isn't a next time).
Tell that damn cat that ripped your hand open that he owes you one; he can either dig a fire trench around your place or just stick around and piss on it...
For the benefit of those just tuning in... Behold: The hand ripped open...
Yeah...can you believe that happened a year ago now... Where did this year go???
Here we go...more pix. This next batch shows some of the fabric in the control room, the replacement of the old wiring and plumbing, sealing the walls, etc...enjoy!

That's most of it for the moment. I'll get the Fire pix developed in the next couple days. Also, started framing the other night part of the mechanical room (for power supplies, etc.).
Great pix! 8-) Hopefully Santa will get you a digital camera this year -- provided you're on the "nice" list and not the "naughty" one!
Aaron, the place is looking very cool! Can't wait to see if finished.
OK, Here's the latest... I framed another room this weekend. Finished framing the "Mechanical Room" (for all the noisy stuff like power supply's, etc). Started framing the back wall of the first tracking room (shot the bottom track and cut the studs, but haven't assembled yet). I'll work on that this evening. I'm finally using up this steel I've had sitting around since last November. I'll work on getting more pix soon... :D
