i'm thinking about going with the inside out wall system, since that approach has me ending up with absorption all around how should i construct soffits for my monitors in them?i need to angle the walls in order to direct sound towards the back. any way of doing going about this with an inside out wall construction?
also, would a diffusor on the back wall be usable in a room thats 14.7x10.6?
thanks

inside out wall and soffits

14.7x10.6?
is that feet?
if yes, than no.
absortion.
that room is too small to get any positive affects of diffusion.
there is a lot of stuff about soffits here.
take a night, do a search, and do some reading.
here's a few to start.

thanks for confirming diffusion is not an option in my situation.
i ve done exensive research on soffit construction, i know how to build them.
i guess i should ve been more specific, what i meant was:
by using the inside out wall concept you end up with soft, absorbtive surfaces. how do you fit the soffit concept into the inside out wall concept.?
do you need to build the soffits and other treatment in a modular way and just place them in the corners? also how does this work with slat resonators with different depts?( like the ones you build) and basstraps? they need to be sealed off to work properly.. there is no hard surface to build onto. if you go modular it kind of defeats the whole purpose of using the inside out wall concept. i hope my question is more clear now.
btw nice build you got going on , i read through your thread last nite..
the inside out wall approach (from my understanding) is more for situations where you know you want absorption as the finished surface. ie: vocal booths, iso booths, etc. if you know you're putting soffits in the front corners, and slot resonators on parts of the sidewalls, then those sections need to be finished off.
you could build an inside out wall, then build the sealed soffits/ resonators and push them up against the walls, but that seams like more work to me.
also, if you do that. . . you need to make sure you're not creating a 3rd leaf with your surfaces.
what's the main reason for the inside out wall choice?
do you have a build thread i can read somewhere?
if not, maybe more details on what you're trying to accomplish. . .
thanks for the word about my build. . .i'm SOOO excited to finish.
the reason for me to look into the insideout wall thing is the space issue, my cr is quite small as it is. the insideout wall would make the walls thinner to maximise floorspace.
i'm def using it for the iso/vox booth, and i was considering it for the cr.
the soffits and slat resonators kinda negates the whole idea so i may not go with it after all.
i don't have a build thread yet, i posted a few separated threads. the build thread may be a good idea.
thanks for thinking with me on this.
