Well, I started my "Kendale Inspired" CR build today! Wish me luck! Pic's will be posted soon.
Wow, I'm sure The Aloha Guy will be flattered to have his name in the thread's title. :D Congratulations on taking your first step! 8) --Keith
I hope he is! I was very impressed with his modular/removeable design, and took my inspiration from his CR. Here is the floorplan -

Aloha from the "Aloha Guy" Hey! Congrats on getting your project started! Looking forward to your pics and progress!

I'm really happy to hear that it was helpful, but the credit really goes John. It was through this forum, the SAE site, and his wall unit plans that there is any to show in the first place, and to Steve (Knightfly) for providing the much needed guidance right from the begining. Thanks for the kind words and sentiments, though! :D Aloha 8)
Share the credit, Kendale. I was inspired (and frightened half to death ;-)) by Paul Woodlock's build, which he couldn't have done without Eric Desart's guidance. You may not have been the one to come up with the story, but you certainly told it well. 8) --Keith
Did somebody say pics?!?!?!? Here is the old CR. The desk is on the left wall in the diagram above. It's kinda messy, I was getting everything out of the room besides the actual desk....

Wires, wires, and more wires - I just hope I can get everything back together!

Everything out of the room - man that carpet is GROSS!

Aloha, Your room cleaned up real nice and neat! And it looks like your assistants did a great job on the flooring install. More pics, please! :D Aloha 8)
Yes, excellent job on the floor! 8) That goes for all of you! Is it fair to say that you're only concerned about acoustics, and not concerned about isolation? Because the way you seem to be going about this, you're not doing anything to improve the isolation capabilities of the room...

Yes. Acoustics is my main concern. Isolation would have taken major construction, and I am hoping to re-locate soon. As with Kendales design, this is totatally modular, and will be movable to the next location and adapted to the new room farily easily. Also, it leaves the room able to be returned to it's "normal" state.
Top half of the traps/soffit are in. I'm going to put 2" 703 in between the two halves which will put them 1/2 from the ceiling.

My trip to Lowe's. Got a $500 custom 36" door for $100. Whoo Hoo! Two sheets of Birch Plywood for the front of the soffits, lights for my "cloud", a bunch of 2x4's, and some 5/8" rock.

Looking great!! 8) How'd you score the $500 door for $100? Dinged and scratched? Is this room a den (with no door and no closet), hence your buying the door? Is your opening 36"? If so, is it going to fit? Typically a 36" door needs a 38" opening, to account for the door frame and a little wiggle room for the door to open and close freely... --Keith

The door was custom oredered, and then returned apparently. :) Yes, the room is a den with a 72x82 opening now. I will have to frame in the door...... :D
So, you're going to extend the wall on the right just under three feet and have one 36" door then? That's not a bad thing -- I'm just trying to visualize it. 8) Sweet deal on that door! :D --Keith

More or less, except that it will be centered in the new "room", so I will be extending both sides of the opening. Update - Got the soffits covered with 3/4 birch plywood. Taped and mudded the sheetrock. Built the cloud frame. :) More pics tommorow.......
Walls up and soffits faced -
