Crap! :( Is that all they got away with? :?
Yeah. That's it. It was under my car port outside, behind my house (not viewable from the road). So it had to be someone who knew it was there. They were in, they were out. They didn't break into anything as far as the house.
There were a few other things outside too, but they didn't want them I guess. I'm thinking it's someone in the neighborhood, or the only recent visitor to my back yard was the UPS guy last week. He would have seen it.
WOW Aaron...sorry to hear that! Terrible feeling to be "violated" in that way. Was it big enough that it would take 2 people or more to move it?
Hope you find out who did it.
Definitely report it to law enforcement for a couple of reasons... First, if they catch the guy later (perhaps a result of another crime) and find it, you might get it back. Plus, it's good to get that stuff reported because then they'll know where to focus their patrols.
Thanks Stan. yeah, it's a bummer feeling. It's what they call a portable saw. For the most part, it's easier w/ 2, but one person could have done it if they wanted it bad enough.WOW Aaron...sorry to hear that! Terrible feeling to be "violated" in that way. That was the first thing I did. Case #: 06-281434 Ryobi 10" table saw, Model#: BTS15, Serial #: N0423?? Maybe that's a date code?Definitely report it to law enforcement for a couple of reasons... Awesome... You've got a serial number! :)
Keep an eye on craigslist > for sale > tools. Maybe you'll catch it.
In fact, you might want to post a "wanted" ad there for a table saw with specs similar to the one you lost (no brand name). Maybe the person who stole it won't be comfortable listing it for sale, but might respond to a "wanted" ad...?
--Keith
Yeah, I was poking around all the classifieds sections online yesterday, including Ebay.
I've got the serial number, because I still have the box (at least I hope that's the number)...
At least now I can finally get rid of it.
I'm going to also knock the dust off my engraver and engrave every tool I own. It's past due for doing that.
And, I'm going to take the plunge and install a surveillance system as well. So if there's ever another "next time", I'll have 'em on video. Even if they're just snooping around and don't get something.
And, since my current contract is just about up w/ my current alarm company, I'm going to install some additional new features to my house.
EBAY! What a wonderful place. Just bought myself a DVR system for surveillance. Time to start drilling, pulling cable, and get some cams.
:D
Just make sure they don't get stolen! ;-)
At least I'll have them on video if they do...
Hey,
Anyone know how to build an echo chamber? I've got the big hole still where I built the retaining wall. haven't back filled it yet. Inside Dim's are roughly 50' long x 14' wide and about 5' deep.
Any suggestions?
Anyone remember this quote...

I'm over 84k hits and still no where near done... BTW...ran the wires for the cams over the weekend. Cams came in today. Maybe this idiot will be stupid enough to try and come back???Yeah, I noticed that late yesterday w/ the posts, and forgot to metion it. Quote: Care to take a guess how many views will be on your thread at the time you grace it with your official "All done!" post? Maybe 80-90k? For construction. Over a 100k w/ new console.
Hopefully - my own personal favorite "camera" for people like that is a 12 gauge, followed closely with the statement,"You have the right to remain silent"...
It's just unfortunate that more of them don't get caught in the act by people like me, maybe the word'd get around... Steve
OK, Aside from the 2 weeks of distraction from a couple weeks ago, I managed to finally move forward again on the studio. Managed to put myself in more debt for a new saw, but unfortunately this is when I've needed one the most. So I bit the bullet and upgraded. Damn thief!
Anyway, I'm posting more pictures of the frame work I'm installing for the 703 panels and fabric. The first pictures are of the first sound lock (finishing it up-at least the frame for the time being). Then the following pictures will be of the other sound lock walls and the cubby hole where a 2" machine will eventually go.
Enjoy... :D
Here's some pix of the other soundlock... frames assembled, then glued to the drywall w/ construction adheshive. Keeps from having to penetrate the shell as little as possible.
More of the SL...
Here's the pix in the corner where the 2" machine will make a home...
Wow!
On this pic...

...are we looking at three layers of drywall on each side? And that's a single metal stud?
Any chance we can see a close-up of that?
Is there some reason you didn't go for double frames? Aren't you concerned about flanking?
--Keith :mrgreen:There is 2 layers of 5/8" drywall mounted on RC Channel. The gap between the drywall and stud where the RC channel is, is filled w/ acoustical sealant. That's why it looks like 3 layers. However, the back wall of the Control room shell is 3 layers. 1 layer of 3/4" plywood and 2 layers of 5/8" drywall. Actually, the room is decoupled from everything else, w/ the exception of the soundlocks, they are part of the control room. The second door opening (in the background of the picture) it is double wall framed for the iso room....are we looking at three layers of drywall on each side? And that's a single metal stud? Keith,
Here's the pix again (probably posted somewhere in the 50 pages), of the wall construction...
I'm really curious how you're gonna hang them doors on those metal studs
They're 20 AWG (the beginning of structural steel). Yes it was an after thought...or should I say not told or informed, to have it larger for an additional wood frame.
BUT, from what I've been told, all will be fine. So we'll see. When I eventually get to hanging doors, I post all the pix on how we've managed to rig it.
totally agreed with you

Well, no updates from this weekend. I've been busy on a little side project building a compressor. I'll show pix when I get 'er done.
On another side note. I won't get anything done this weekend either. I'm helping a friend w/ a major studio install in a post house. All I know is the console cost $800k. Ouch!
But maybe, I'll get some more of the 703 and fabric hung during the week in the new frames I built last weekend.
