in the bigger room maybe some polys would be nice for diffusion and scattered absorption around the ceiling and walls.
Need some advise for new design.

Glenn thanks once again. What would be the best, budget friendly poly or type of diffusion that we can use, in the live room like you recommend, cause we have seen some expensive polys and diffusers, and we dont have the exact tools nor open budget for it. No disrespect meant, but DEFINE BEST. What tools do you have? Polys can be a complex to build as in Malcolm Chisholm's design. I am certain you have those tools or can rent them... Avare, thanks for your response. Right now the basic tools that we have are drills, saws, hammers etc. the basic, and to rent the tools we are running low on our budget due to the glass purchase we just made. We were planning to start with what we have now and later on build the polys or diffusers to add to the room to liven everything up a bit. By any chance where can i find the design by Malcolm for the polys, i did a search and found some good stuff but nothing on the polys.. Thanks for all your help everyoneNo disrespect meant, but DEFINE BEST. What tools do you have? Polys can be a complex to build as in Malcolm Chisholm's design. It is described here. Yes, it needs zero specialized tools. Yes, so many people go "duh" after reading how difficult it can be make polys. Especailly after instructions by the great Malcolm. yes, basically two (2) strips of 2x2 attached on the walls 3'6" apart and a 4x8 sheet of 1/8" plywood bent into the space (which is about a 7" deep bend). if you feel the need, some pink insulation lightly packing in behind will add some additional absorption and damping. if you're going to add several polys, change up the sizes: 4'x4', 3'x'8' (in 2'9" spaced strips) etc. giving a rip down one edge (say 1/4") of the 2x2 on a 60 degree will add some additional security for holding the plywood.
Well guys, here is a quick picture update from our work. Not the nicest work like some places here, but it certainly works.
A quick question concerning our back wall -_- once again, cause the owner is being a pain about it.
Glenn, instead of building a complete wall panel (the best idea in my opinion) can we build Helmholz panels tuned to pick up lower frequencies. I will try to upload a file showing what im explaining, but more or less it will be, 2 2ftx7ftx4in panels, 4inches off from the corners, and if possible, mounted at an angle (bass trap effect) and a 6ftx5ftx4in, in the center back wall ( we need space for a couch, asked by the problematic owner) hopefully this does not cause confusion, he just does not want to cover the complete wall (i guess 4 inches is a huge waste of space lol)
I will try to draw something up showing the back wall idea..
And now the pictures..
New Backwall idea with slat panels..

looking good! hopefully you remembered to clean the inside of the glass before installing it...
the slats would need to be enclosed and sealed etc to work correctly so I'd just go with as much absorption as you can on the back wall and still leave a space for the couch (remembering the couch as some depth so i'd build out as far as possible...). and just use the slats to preserve some HF. worst case later you find you do need to build some tuned slats or membrane traps to fix some problem frequencies - you can readily do that.
