Hellooou...
So here are some more photos, we finished with walls now and tomorow we start with ceiling yeehaaa :yahoo:

MASSSS! :finger:
Oh I see, You dont understand... I mean brick construction and mass from brick wall. You are still on idea that the rockwool is too heavy  I explain already why and how! Sorry, I/ we dont reinvent something. I build studios for past 15 years. Final acoustics analysis is always OK, so dont worry. You are acoustician too? Only last year we have "better"/ more acoustic adapted material, thats all. I know what mean volume and density and reciprocal correlation. And so what if absorber is heavier 1, 2 or 3kg? Armaflex and similar materials are used in many construction designs all over the world. I dont understand if this is not logical to you. Do you have any experience in real world studio construction? How would you construct this studio - PRECISELY! please, dont just give fast remarks. I would love to learn something new.Adding more GB or alike does a much greater job than adding mass to the absorbing materials that go in between wall layers. My mistake, I wasn't clear on my comment. What I meant was, why re-invent something? (nevermind) You need volume, not density to absorb lower frq. How thick are your panels going to be? With 10cm (60x120) panels you'll have about 7,5kg more of weight in total I hope it's working for you. Love to see details on that! Thanks for your reaction, it's alway nice to have some one explain in detail what they're up to. :)

Thank you.
I am sorry, but I have to explain some decisions and why so, because Mike is not acoustician, he is artist.
He ask me for help and thats it.
And of course I dont know everything already (my and everybody else misfortune).
Sometimes I visit that forum anonymious and read about interesting solutions. Great forum, with respect.
But if someone asking me something, I am willing to give him the exact answer and expect that I would get that back.
I dont like simplism in answers or retorical questions.
Maybe it's just the camera angles, but to me it looks like the inner-leaf wall touches the outer-leaf ceiling at the top. If so, then how do you prevent flanking like that? Is that black line that seems to go around the joint some type of sealant, rubber, foam, or something?
Just curious.
Hi there.
Its "armaflex - gumfoam", we use that for decoupling of all joints etc. There is or will be no touching bitween inner-leaf wall and the outer-leaf ceiling at the top
Sorry if I upset you, perhaps it's the language barrier that's causing confusion. (I'm certainly not the best English writer here :( )
The thing about the "re-inventing" rockwool; why go to all the trouble while you've got great solutions for that already. I'm just wondering, that's all.
Adding a few keys of extra mass to wool just for "extra" isolation seems a bit strange to me. Much easier, and better IMHO, to hang an extra layer of GB (more mass).
The aramaflex: you say it's for "decoupling". Do the inner-leaf walls go straight up to the outerceiling? And how is it attached? (the wall/ceiling)
You've put it underneath your frame too? Would you be willing to describe/post a picture in detail on the attachments of the frames and floor/ceiling? Is the deflection of the armaflex calculated against the weight ? The thing is; I've seen it done so many time. Ppl adding rubber/neoprene/armaflex/wool/felt/whatever underneath frames without having a clue of the effect. (I'm not saying that you don't)
I'm just curious, perhaps WE can learn from YOU!
No, I'm not a pro acoustician. I'm just a lazy sob who's trying to piss of Lou now and then, without succes tho.
It is okey, I am either not good english writer :(
I am sorry; I don know what is GB? Hangers?
btw: if would be necessary, we would add at a later stage membranes on front face of panels.
Inner leaf is attached on ceiling with acoustic hangers for knauf construction. Hangers was modified afterwards after buying, because tradesmans selling without knowing what they have or not... too long story. I am just advisor in this particular project as a friend and helping him.
This studio is on the low/middle budget side and he can not afford every fantasies of mine :(
Mike will put some pictures for easily understanding about inner leaf.
haha, indeed. If only.. :lol:This studio is on the low/middle budget side and he can not afford every fantasies of mine :(
... hope you dont mean that in cynically way...
Well I don't think that this is a low budget project... my wallet is very dry
I sure wish I had a "low" budget like that! That's a pretty serious build so far, if you ask me. It doesn't look like it came cheap.
It's looking pretty good too. Decent size spaces to work with. I'll be very interested to find out if it also sounds good, when it is finished, and especially interested in seeing the isolation numbers.
When do you plan to have it finished?

It is very relative
... a few months cca. 3-4 I hope.
I hope too :cop: So... I'm to tired to write something down, so I just post some photos from today. Night. M.It is very relative  ... a few months cca. 3-4 I hope.
Speaking of relative, how were the room dimensions established, by what ratio? It is very relative  ... a few months cca. 3-4 I hope.
nice progress, gents!
Could you tell us more about those resilient ceiling suspension clips?
Mike is very tired, so here are 2 examples: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/3578799-post99.html http://www.gearslutz.com/board/1292586-post77.htmlnice progress, gents! Could you tell us more about those resilient ceiling suspension clips?
By "acceptable room ratios":) Example from i-net, I think you know this link: http://forum.studiotips.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=684 Because of given limitation, I suggested Louden 1:1.4:1.9. Mike have decided gabarits: 3.25x5x6.55 therefore 1:1.54:2... real world, real problems, "less" adequately decisions... ... but there are not "optimal room modes"...Speaking of relative, how were the room dimensions established, by what ratio? It is very relative  ... a few months cca. 3-4 I hope.
1 : x : 2? Aren't you concerned about that? Would it not have been better to move the wall just a bit to avoid an exact multiple, even if it meant making the room smaller?
Yes absolutely, agree!!!
It is not my decision, sorry.
Hey guys.
When we finished with building, the constructor measure everything with the laser. So the exact measures are 646cm x 496cm x 334 cm which brings 1 : 1.49 : 1.93 and I don't bother with that actualy :) We will do our best with inner acoustics and the graphs will tell what we achive.
NenPatkovic sorry because I didn't tell you the exact dimensions
From today... 1st layer of 12,5mm drywall and 22mm particle board is up. Finall 3rd layer, 15mm drywall will be finished on friday.
Looking at those photos, it seems like you are not taping / mudding / sealing / caulking the joints between your gypsum board panels, nor the screw holes. Aren't you concerned about your lack of a hermetic seal?
Also, it seems that you are not using green glue between layers. Any reason for that, when it seems that you did have the budget to do it?

Damn, ohhh my god we forgot!!!

GG is very known old principle but with first-class advertising.
It is based on latex polymer. Also this damping glue is very, very, very similar. When we compare each other, we cant tell the difference between them in "blind test" 8)
All joints, all surfaces, all everything are taping / mudding / sealing / caulking with this damping adhesive.
btw:
Well it is not fair, what if we really dont know about that solution before building, why you are telling it now?
