Great! could you post a re-cap of how you got it. am I correct that you went to the online ordering page and ordered type "M" trunk rubber and got type "K"? Does this work every time?
all that is explained in detail, in a previous post within this thread.
Sorry, that thread confused me a bit it was so detailed. I noticed the link for type M rubber and it does indeed look like the right stuff. If I might ask, how are you using them in the windows, and what is the contact cement for?
contact cement came with the box. I assume that's how one would affix the trunk rubber into the metal slots provided in doors and trunks for this on autos. No windows in the room I'm dealing with. There are basement windows in the room, but they will actually be 30x15'' covers that seal the windows off. I'll open them when I am not concerned with isolation and want to work with sunlight washing through the room on a good day. The inside of the framed openning where each door would close against is where you would put them. Check out the first page of my build thread for related links. There are also severl links in completed studio builds and other reference sticky threads.
I'm about to order my trunk rubber and I was wondering if the stuff you guys got was 10' or 16.5'? "K" is listed as 16.5' and "L" is listed at 10'. I realize I need to order "L" to get "K" but am a little confused about the lengths.
Trying to remember, but I think I had 10' sections.
hey everyone. i know this is an old thread, but i needed to order my trunk rubber and was wary of ordering from jc whitney based on some of the odd experiences you guys listed. i think they may have bought carparts.com, so maybe i'm getting into the same boat, but for some reason the rubber is about $3 cheaper here than jc whitney: http://www.carparts.com/autoparts/ItemB ... 0000213093 also, if you use the coupon code "CHEAP" on checkout, you can get free shipping if your order is over $100. i think there are some other codes out there too. thanks!
I wonder what would happen if you used the coupon code "FREE"!

Hey, ideaofnorth. Did you get that trunk rubber? Was it the right stuff? I'd like to avoid jc whitney if at all possible. Thanks!

yes, i got the trunk rubber from carparts. showed up in a timely fashion and is the right stuff. works great. the weird thing is that i think carparts and jc whitney are the same company now? or were when i ordered but i didn't pick up on it. at any rate, i haven't received any harrassing calls or emails from them.

OK...wow, I'm a bit confused here. This link: http://www.carparts.com/autoparts/ItemB ... 0000213093 ......is for "Type L", right? But that's what needs to be ordered in order to receive "Type K"? The mind boggles, dudes.
I know a lot of people have had bad experiences with jcwhitney, but just to let you know, I recently ordered from them with no problem and got the order quite quickly. And, I didn't have to order L to get K or anything like that, just ordered type K.

Hey ajoantmug, Do you happen to know the stock number that you ordered? I'm just trying to figure out who's making the mistake here.... JCWhitney's Catalog? Or the person at JCWhitney filling the order? Check out what studio_drums said:

JC Whitney's online catalog is incorrect: 'Style K' trunk rubber is incorrectly listed as Style 'L' online. I had ordered Style 'K' which actually came up as Style 'J'. What a mess...I had to order what's known as 'Style L'- which comes up with the correct picture and stock #. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Prod ... nge+rubber In their printed catalog, the parts and stock #'s match, but not online... The correct stock number is: MU738864. Product comes in 10 ft. lengths only.
This is getting thick.
When I bought mine a while back I ordered "L" and received "K" but maybe they have corrected their catalog.
Sorry if I'm out of line by posting this here, but I've got a bunch of Type K rubber that I'm trying to get rid of in the "Building Materials" section of this forum. http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=13141
I did order it online, but I did call right after I ordered to make sure I was going to get the right thing.
