There is a slot resonator/trap planned for this wall behind the drum hardware. Lighting still to be installed in the corners too...

48 hours to go - looking good. Hopefully I'll get the clouds done and bass traps installed - cabling will probably take a day too. We'll see...
Cheers,
D.
Gotta hand it to ya, you sure make good progress and it sure "looks" good. (nice racks)
Shouldn't you be busy hanging some sound proof build doors and such?
So, any color schema in mind? (white is sooo 5 minutes ago)
...at least I got the "paint" part done ;) I know the color is *looks* white in the pics, but it's actually light grey, which, in turn, contrasts the cross beams & carpet (and eventual clouds, doors and traps) which are dark anthrazit grey. The cool thing about the light grey walls is the take to the colored lighting really well which enables me to change the color atmosphere in the room as wanted. As you can probably tell by the racks & console, I'm a very dark personality - I'm not really into greens and oranges and yellows as such LOL ;) Cheers, D.On July 10, I've got to have stage 1 finished - I have a mate coming over from Down Under (I'm in Germany) to do some jamming ;) Must have the essentials done by then: *Walls & ceilings drywalled, mudded & caulked *Electro livewired *Floor coverings installed *Gear wired & fired up At least then we'll be able to do some scratch vox in the control room. I don't expect the paint, doors or bass traps/slat resonators to be started until after he leaves again on the 16 July. Talk about cutting it close ;) D.
Yep, you REALLY do work fast Dingo. But you know what? It looks good! How did you get that "overcast" blue lighting? Was there a special way you directed your lights?
Another thing...now tell the truth...that's an AWFUL lot of equipment you have there...did you 1.) Do the wiring all by yourself? 2.) Did you get it done in 1 day?
Thanx!
Hi Stan - thx for the kind words! The indirect blue lighting effect (or any color for that matter) has been very popular with the people who've seen the studio "in the flesh" as it were - which is nice. It's quite simple to do actually...you just buy a light snake - the one's that are like a garden hose with LEDs inside them - and lay them haphazardly on top of the clouds. No-one will be able to see the light snake itself, yet it emits a light soft indirect beam around the top of the studio - very cool. Adds a lot of groovy atmosphere and aura to the place.
The cabling is *almost done* - at least done enough to record some jamming ;) It took about 6 hours, patch bay taking the most time - and no, I didn't solder the cables then. Most of the cables were already made and transported from the old studio setup to this new one ;)
Pics on the way...
Cheers,
D.
hats off to ya mate. i like your style, looks real pro well done.
Hey man, that's GREAT! I'll definately try to incorporate that idea into my vocal booth lighting!
Thanx!
