I had to log in (join) the "Recording Groups" on MSN created by Rod to view the pdf. BTW Rod, that is a great letter and combined with reading through your book a few times I've become a fan of your writing style. MarcThat won't open for me.
HGTV has done the right thing!

Marc, Thanks for the kind words. RodI had to log in (join) the "Recording Groups" on MSN created by Rod to view the pdf. BTW Rod, that is a great letter and combined with reading through your book a few times I've become a fan of your writing style. MarcThat won't open for me.
Hi Rod, of course not. I was joking. Much of the time I'm a sardonic bastard. :) :D  Though, I promised myself years ago that I'd avoid Microsoft products wherever possible, and this includes MSN and especially their passport infrastructure. If reading your letter means I have to play the Microsoft passport game, then I guess I won't be reading it. :( Any chance I could get you to email it to me? It's JWL --at-- Freakwitch ..dot.. Net. Or, you could even upload it directly to this forum, looks like PDFs are one of the allowed extensions. Thanks!I don't speak to anyone like that - they never read past the firsdt paragraph of that's the tone.
Sorry about that - I did not realize that I could post PDF files here:
Rod
Awesome!!! Bravo!!! (Oh, wait -- that's a different network!)

Rod, that was amazing. I'm so glad you wrote to them and I'll be most interested in their response. I sincerely hope that they do the right thing.

Yeah man, very good job indeed. I may know something is a code violation, but you what code it actually is. And the tests for floor coverings and wall coverings, you know exactly what tests they are, which is great.
I really do hope HGTV does the right thing here. They should also do an episode with guys building a REAL studio so people can see how to really do it.
Nice letter, Rod. Great how you can say "you idiots!" without saying "you idiots!"
Let's see if/how they respond....
I actually hope they're smart enough to realize that I'm doing them a favor.
In reality - - when things go wrong - attorneys look for the deepest pockets...........
If someone duplicates the building techniques they show on their program - regardless of any disclaimers they might post before (and/or after) the show - I can pretty much promise you that any jury in the world will find them liable to some extent should there be a fire - and very liable if there was a death associated.
Remember - Great White didn't put up the foam at the night club in Rhode Island - and you would think that they would have had every right to believe it was a tested/approved non-flammable acoustic treatment - yet they are taking the fall right along with the owner for the deaths involved..... including criminal charges.
I really believe it is their best interest to pay attention to what I'm telling them.........
Rod
Absolutely! Everyone I've talked to about this says the same thing. It's a liability for them to keep airing that show.
...and on the subject of The Station fire in Warwick, there were also code violations with emergency exit doors installed incorrectly (swinging inward). I believe this is because they added another "leaf" and didn't have room for the door to open into the area between the doors... ...basically, the same thing that I'm doing -- only I won't have hundreds of people inside..............
"Code" is your friend.
Guy, I am so happy right now. I just got this e-mail from HGTV.
Thank you for your e-mail. We appreciate you calling our attention to this matter. We have forwarded this on to our program director who has decided to pull the episode. Thanks again.
Customer Services, Scripps Networks Interactive
We did it!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D
...it's like David and Galliath. Amazing. I feel good right now.
Thanks to everyone who supported me from the start on this one. Some may have thought I was a little crazy for trying to take on a huge network like HGTV, but I stuck to it and with the help of Rod, we made it happen.
That is awesome!!!! 8) Bravo! Congratulations and "high fives" all around!!!
Gee, I wonder what the guy who built that death trap will think when he learns his infamous appearance won't be repeated...
Immediately after my jubilations, that was my first thought as well. :) But then I thought, no one has a right to be on TV, it's a privilege. If he wanted his episode to last he should have done one day's worth of research before doing the show. It's not my fault he was lazy. And then I was fine.
Hey Sonic -- how about editing the first post in this thread, so we can change the subject line? HGTV has absolutely done the right thing in this case (albeit after the episode aired once)... :D
Dale Carnegie once wrote, "If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically." I would say HGTV has done that and deserves some kudos as well. 8)

Done. Good points too.
Hey Sonic
Props to you for sure! Give yourself some credit for even CARING to make an issue out of this.
You did a good thing...A REAL good thing! :)
Congrats!!!
thanks camistan, a lot. I can't take all the credit, Rod wrote a letter and for all I know that may have played a role.
Sonic,
you deserve the credit - you got the ball rolling and you took the initiative to go public in their forum.......
So the credit is all your sir............ :D :D :D
Sincerely,
Rod
Well thank ye Rod. :)
How about that! nice work.
Rod, did you ever get a respons to yer letter?
Ro, not directly - however (if they actually forwarded it to anyone of importance) they pulled the show - so no response would be necessary. Sincerely, RodHow about that! nice work. Rod, did you ever get a respons to yer letter?
