Looks cool, theory sounds good, but ... one thing missing.... PIX! Until then ".. it didn't happen.."! :) I, for one, am looking forward to seeing it. Are you going to run REW before and after you install it? Would be neat to see what effect it has... - Stuart -
Right, Stu, pay attention. Here's how we build it. in fact, it's exactly like the design I posted earlier. Dead simple and way cool. It's a ply frame, attached directly to the walls. A few pieces of ply 45 degr for attaching the cloth (to stretch it nice with perfect fit). Extra two steal-wires to keep wool in place. Glass-wool cut to triangles and placed inside the frame Add plastic-barrier as a low-end filter, then white cloth to finish. All stapled. Added ply trims for finish. Added recessed light. Took me a few hours to build and two hours to design the concept. enjoy the "proof" :) @stu: no, didn't run any tests. The main goal is isolation. These are "just" band practise rooms. But that's not gonna stop me from doing some acoustic dress-up :). Perhaps I will do before-and-after testing with the control-room. But that's a few years from here... I'm afraid. ah, well. ro.

Pix!!! :!: :!: :!: Cool! 8) So it really DID happen then! :) Looks very neat, by the way. Simple, and pretty darn effective, I would guess. I love seeing progress! And there can't be too much to do now? The end is in sight? - Stuart -
Looking good Ro ! What dimension size did you choose for the wedges ?? Also interested in what acoustical change noticed ?
thanx guys, I'm pretty exited too. And yes, Stu, the end is nigh. Have to build 2 speakermounts which are also low-end absorbers, positioned in the corners underneath the previous build low-end absorber. Will start with those next friday, I figure they take about a days work. But I only work, at best, 2 evenings for 2 hours per week. 4 hours per week aint much eh. Hence the slow progress. Next I have to build two more corner absorbers that will wrap around the in- and out airvents. And, some finishing trims, flooring, electrical stuff, more paintwork, 6 broad-band absorbers and other stuff... prox 6 months works I reck'n. Oh well, been busy with *this* floor/room about 2 years already. @RJ: the wedges are 60cmx60cmx85cm triangles. Cut from 60x120 boards. 75mm thick.
Basic Super Chunk right?
Totally, X! I love superchunkabsorbers, they sound cool and are easy to build.
Next: speakerstands with low-end corner absorber. Here's the design, gonna start building those darn things this week. Don't worry, will add absorption *behind* the speakers as well. It's not in the design, yet. Stands will be placed underneath the previous shown cornerabsorber. untill later, ro.

Speakerstands - done. Hai my friends, nice to see you tune in. Due illness and other *nice* interruptions the speakerstand built took longer than I hoped for. Oh well. :) I've shown you the design in my previous post, here's the actual built. It's *almost* a carbon copy of the design :) Yeah, I tweaked the design a bit before cutting wood. Without further delay, here are them holy pix! Enjoy. ro

Great job Ro ! Thanks for the pics, super neat as usual !! ...now, more pics... M O R E !!
thanx Simo. Patience, more pix of more studiobuildporn will follow :)
Sweet...it's the only porn that I care about :) No, really...it is!!!!
Been bussy with low-end absorbers last few weeks...... spot the differences. Detailed pix later, when I got them sorted out :( Ro

Some more construction details of those lowendabsorberpillarsthingies in the corner that wrap around the ventilation system stuff. We built removable panels for easy access on maintenance jobs. It's exactly how we build the speakerstands I showed earlier. It's a cage, it's sturdy and musician-proof. I hope :) The pix will speak for them selfs, enjoy! Roman.

The ceiling is the limit Minor update, added trimming to the ceiling. Finishing details. Trims are mainly glued with a few screws to hold the shizl in place. Those are nifty screws :) pix? sure!

Those are nifty screws
Yeah, but they might cause edge diffraction at very high frequencies....  :horse: 8) (ya know me! I always gotta find SOME nit to pick! :) ) Seriously, that looks pretty neat.... So how close are you to FINISHING? When is the grand inauguration? - Stuart -
ooh, darn! I totally forgot to test those screws for acoustic properties. Thanx Stu, gonna reject them and put in some PROPER ones. You know, those special brand screws named "acoustic screw". Expensive but effective. Worth every penny. :finger: I hope to finish THIS ROOM in, oh say, september 2013. YEAH!
Don't forget the acoustic door knobs, too! And the acoustic paint, of course... :) September, ehhh? Cool! I might even have to be in the Netherlands around then, possibly, ... so if that works out, you might find me knocking on your door... :) - Stuart -
you're welcome to drop by any day, Stu. Now, if you'll excuse me...gotta find me some acoustic fresh-air. I heard it rocks.
Suck it Yeah, wall socket time! Pictures will tell the story.... cheers! ro

Acoustic broadband panels YUP! It's time to actually make some cool stuff.. not that all the other stuff ain't cool, but this is a recording-studio forum, right! To let's get cracking. Yesterday we made a prototype for broadband panels. There will be six of those on the walls. Smaller versions end up at the ceiling. Dimensions: 200x60x10(cm). 10cm/4" thick rock-wool inside, covered with white fabric. We used a French-cleat system to mount them on the walls. Here's the actual proof :) ro.
