Sorry to put all of you in a "war" about meters and inches  Does somebody know if there exist "walls already done" in order to "make it easy and properly" ?
Yes. They are very expensive though. So much that if you can afford them you can afford to use a professional studio design consultant. Tom Hidly wordks out of Switzerland and there is a link form the top page to his site. Andre
Here's the imperial version cheers john

yes this IS the plan ! I am thinking about my different ways of working and am actually thinking whether it is possible or not ... One other point is that I offen go in that "room" only for the office part ... meaning I will have to open two glasses and two doors in order to see my mails ;-) so maybe it's better to reverse the control room about 180 degrees ? and place doors instead of windows ? ... to be honest I dont have the time to do such big transformations now and I have to think about all cases to see what I will gain from such a config ...
okay here I am back with some revisited plan ... before talking about 2 doors and 2 windows to come through to go to surf on the net ... I wanted to see whether it is possible to organize all the instruments in such a space and the result is : NO look at the picture below ... in the live room I need to have : - a marshall speaker (4x12) - a rack (full of racks for guitar) - a pedal board( FC200, whammy, wah, ....) - a flight DJ (solution with notebook, midi, ...) - a backline (for singing during live session) - guitars ... (dont want to go to another to room to pick the guitar) ... as you can see ... looks like a big problem ... For the control room it seems ok (and I think this organisation is really not perfect but I need to have the Midi stuff near the synths and the synths near the mackie ...) Beautiful on paper as seen for the first but I will not able to play there ;-( I need a bigger live room ;-( PS : and to add, I wanted the bassist to play in the same room as me ... yeah this time it is REALLY unpossible ... PS2 : I was really in love with that plan but now I hate it ;-)

bump after holidays ... I think I will stay like I am now and just do : music ;-)
big bump and a 360 virtual visit if u like you can see it at : http://www.pulseconcept.com/studio74.htm and then click on the picture it will open a new window with a quick time video feel free to post any comments / questions ... still dreaming about that plan but also dreaming of a bigger room ;-) have a good visit !
yep still here :) still thinking of this proposed design (as I now take less time with the band), I red everywhere about bass straps and in this design i see no bass traps behind (in the control room). To make it short, is that design still ok, or do you get new ideas, stuff and so on ? (as everything progress) I still love the idea to have a big room but the thing is that I am not placed symetrically ... many thanks for any answer!
Am i being to simple? but would utilizing the division you already have work? [edit]- Sorry only read page one then posted design.....

dont be sorry it is very kind of you to propose a new design. I love that one as it allows me to keep a bigger live room! many thanks ! as for now I am still with one big messy room as visible on http://www.pulseconcept.com/studio74.htm but I may change :) I just take time (plenty! I know :) to decide the way to go
So here are the news: Finally I decided to keep it that way meaning I definitely love to have one big room ... Everything is perfect apart the fact that the sound inside the studio is not top about the bass frequencies. So, while keeping the main idea, I moved everything so that it is now in a symetric way, and guess what ... yes the sound is much better. Currently I am doing superchunk bass-traps in the corners of the 1m.97 part ... Each bass-trap is 1,08 m x 1,08 m. I dont plan to add other superchunk bass-traps in the back of the room cause I dont have the place to do it (one side is the door and in the other angle I have my Marshall cabinet 4 x 12) My question of the day: are my 1m 08 x 1m 08 bass traps too big ??? I already construct the wooden structure for both front angles (in the 1m97 part) and filled one partially (60% is done) and already the sound is really better for the left speaker (dynaudio BM15a), more definition ... I am afraid to construct too big bass traps, what do you think? The diagonal is 1m50 cm approx and is filled with rockwook 60 kg/m3. I have been told today that normally superchunk bass traps diagonal are 85 cm (and not 1m50). Should I rebuild everything to 85 cm?
it looks like you have room for the larger trap so i'd say go for it. i'd put at least a super chunk behind the amp.
many thanks gullfo! ok so I will probably finish the first one tonight. When you mean put a super chunk behind the amp, you mean that I should use the corner where I have my Marshall Cabinet and do a trap behind it, that's it? What I have done so far is putting all kind of pillows and blanket behind it ... The cabinet is on the top of rack ... I put a piece of wood between the the cabinet and the racks so that the pillows stuff dont fall behind the racks (cause they need some air ventilation) I bought a omni mic (behringer ECM-8000) and did a few measures before the traps ... look forward to see the result with these big fat traps :) :yahoo:
