Here are a few more pics of the trim details around the seals and the hinge fitting,

Over all i think it is safe to say that we are about fifty% of the way through our little build here.
Quite happy with the way things are going progress wise and hope to be finished completely with the doors open by the end of October at the latest.
Next step is the framing of the inside out wall to the rear of the control room and then cleaning up painting and then bass traps.
Then we move to the downstairs part of the build the tracking/ live room.
There is not nearly as much work to do downstairs just door a small partition wall and traps then its time for some final tests for accoustic issues and we will be up and running.
Shame about the hacking bullshit that went on there over the last few days, i got very nervous carrying out door hanging with out my reference material!!!!
Sympathies John, and respect for getting it sorted so fast and having the site back up and running in no time flat!!
blessings to all

BUMP
5 days and no comments, was it something i said??
hmmm
Hai Donal,
Nothing you said, we're just lazy I suppose. harf harf.
I'm extremely busy atm with some other projects concerning my residence. have to finish our bathroom this week or the boss will punch me lights out... Also have to finish the bedroom, same arguments; the wife will kill me if I don't.
Your doors are looking cool :)
Cheers Ro
Quite a bit of effort (and money) went into the doors, and i am pleased to have them done!!
At the moment the vocal booth still needs major isolation work done to the walls so its hard to tell just how effective the new door is but when i close the cr door it just kills all sound completely NICE :D
Next up we gotta build the two large traps in the control room,
one to the rear which will also bring symmetry into the room and one to the front at the rear of the monitors.
I am going to mark out the framing on the floor for the rear trap ( i say trap but its really an inside out wall)
This will probably take some time to get the angles right but then its just a wooden stud frame to build which is fairly simple.
Spent a few days away at the brothers house and using his wood shop I got all the boxes for the broadband absorbers and bass traps cut out and "butt jointed" ( putting the cart before the horse a bit but the woodshop is quite busy so i take days when i can get em!)
They get delivered to me in a few days Flat pack for transport and all i gotta do is just screw and glue em and cover them, fill em and hang em.(pics soon)
Got a lot of painting to do to and then get the gear back into the cr so i can get started down stairs.
Cant wait for that last little bit!!! one thing i am begining to figure out slowly is that i should really never try to build much else
Musician yes builder hmmm maybe in some past life!!!
Still have mid october in mind as a finish  no pressure!!
yeah, no pressure at all ha ha. (you only got like 2 or 3 weeks left? whooh)
Yeah its like that alright.
I started looking at reciepts today,
prolly shouldnt have done that
But in all seriousness i really do need to get moving with the project,
its been going on nearly a year now in planning and building and i intend a serious push on it in the next few weeks.
There's business plans with people watching!! :finger:
like i give a :cen:
but really though.....
Also there's not been nearly enough bass round my place since i packed the gear up and im starting to get withdrawals!!
I do have a dj set to do Nov 5th and have a 16k dub soundsystem to play with that night so looking forward to that.
www.myspace.com/thedubdoctorsoundsystem for a look at some of my tunes (exscuse the dodgy mp3s  )
Seriously super chunky!!
This is the trap for the front of the room, it will be behind the monitor spekers
Its 1m wide x 2.4 high x 30cm deep,
behind it is a triangular shaped air space.
It took two full bales of rock wool flexi to fill this up but it is solid,
Cut the rockwool using an electric carving knife and a jig/template.
Gonna build a frame around it tomorow and cover it over with some kinda fabric the next few days
nice one
cool
so, it's not superchunk (what's in a name.. ) at all? (usually we call a complete corner fill (no airspace) a "superchunk" absorber. It's a name given by someone at, euh, RO or Gearslutz IIRc)behind it is a triangular shaped air space.
The air gap isn't really a problem though is it?
Just the name is wrong, I assume that a foot deep of rockwool flexi is going to do the job just fine.
when i tap the outside with a flat hand it sounds well deep and bassy.
IF THIS TRAP IS GOING TO CAUSE ME A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR GAP PLEASE LET ME KNOW SOON AS I AM GOING TO FRAME AND COVER IT TODAY!!
(sorry for shouting!)
yeah, it's just a "name" don't worry.
the air cav will not give you problems but it is recommended to fill the whole corner in order to have more volume of wool and hence better low-end absorption. The corner is where bass will build up, you want it "trapped". Broadbandpanels, on flat surfaces like a wall, however, benefit from having a bit of space between the surface and wool. Yeah, it's confusing...
If your current wall works, it's cool. If you have doubts, and money, fill it. You might wanna "measure" the difference if you like.
Its all about the money here at the moment,
So far i spent about €10000 (albeit 1/2 went on gear including some 10 lovely mics, did anyone else catch the RODE ONE DOLLAR MIC DEAL)
And to be quite honest, I only have about €800 to finish with however i do have most of the material for my plans to be complete.
However this is a huge trap already, Theres two full bales of rock wool in there, 2.4m high x 1m wide x30cm deep i am pretty confident it will do the trick.
Going to build the frame for the inside out wall at the rear of the cr today and thats going to be about 6m2 of 100mm thick rockwool with a fabric front. Added to this there will be four panels on the wall (1.2m x .6m x 120mm) of 50mm rockwool with a 70mm air gap behind and two panels of 100 mm rockwool with a 20mm air gap behind.
I think this should pretty much catch the worst of it  , (and like i said before it aint abbey road but it will work!!)
Its great to finally be making some progress here!!
My building skills aint gettin a lot better but my typing is
That name comes from where it was first designed and measured. Which has NOTHING to do with RO neither Gearslutz. The complete name is: Studiotips Superchunks and is given in honor of Dan Nelson who established Studiotips. And therefore the abbreviated name is SSC. The person who made him first that way (resulting from Studiotips discussions) which caused them to be measured and compared with other DIY and commercial alternatives: farmerbrown22002 (Harder-Sound) in cooperation between Auralex and Studiotips at Riverbank Labs (designed by Sabine himself) http://www.geneva.il.us/riverbnk/riverpag.htm And this is the original source and measurements, almost never or rarely referred by anyone: http://forum.studiotips.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=535(usually we call a complete corner fill (no airspace) a "superchunk" absorber. It's a name given by someone at, euh, RO or Gearslutz IIRc)
And the standard corner absorber: Studiotips Corner Absorber : abbreviated SCA http://forum.studiotips.com/viewtopic.p ... =534#p3969 Studiotips promoted this principle confirmed by personal lab measurements of mine which are the OLDEST lab measurements investigating the efficiency of porous corner absorption to be found on the net. This design was introduced by forum member Harder aka FarmerBrown in the context of how to optimize the stuffing of the cavity of a Studiotips Corner Absorber.
Thanks for clearing that up, Eric, I couldn't exactly remember which forum/website the name came from.
I've read the article and reports before but didn't figure that was the source.
:yahoo:
Just so long as they work, I couldnt give a "REPLACE WITH RANDOM EXPLETIVE" what it is they are called really,
blood sweat and tears flowing round mine at the mo, fuck, them inside out walls aint simple!!
(edit) sorry if this seems brash, i was very tired when i wrote it and I meant no offence to anyone,
only when i read back over it this morning did i see how blunt it was and how some folk might be offended,
tired now!!
but the small inside out wall is built :D
pics in morning!!
df
hey folks anyone for some progress pics?
this is the inside out wall we built at the rear of the room.
It was built in the shape below to bring symmetry to the rear of the room
as before that it was a very odd shape indeed.
Its got to layers of gyprock on the rear and will be filled with 100 mm flexi rockwool all the way around the front
And then i will finish it in purple fabric.
Shaz my partner is a colour therapist and she has chosen a colour scheme for the rooms we are doing up.
People will feel instanly at home and relax and she thinks also want to come back :D .
We are going to use a kind of sky blue in the vox booth, because it opens the throat chakra and helps people sing also it lets you pour forth your inspiration :| . In the live room we are going to use a terracotta all around the bottom of the walls to make people want to sit on the floor like they would at home
I wonder if anyone on the forum has done any research into this subject, I know colour has a huge effect on our person/mood from day to day and painting a small enclosed space like a vox booth the wrong colour will have a huge impact on the vibe of people using that space for a long time to come, right then lots of caulking to do !!!!!!!
anyway more pics :D
Ok,
So this post is me using a different name.
Been pretty busy here in the last few weeks.
I somehow managed to get locked out of the site so i couldnt put up pics etc.
Cant seem to remember old login details so i opened a new account.
Is this a huge breech of ettiquette?
Will post pics this evening.

Maybe you could e-mail John, and ask him if it is possible to reset your password so that you can get in through your old account, to avoid confusion?
Will do soundman,
In the meantime, here are some pics of the work in progress.
coming along nicely.
