Gentleman,
Part III of the build is about to come.. Second Control room and recording room "C"
(in total, there will be 2 control room,s two small rooms and the drum room already built)
Stay tuned for pixies
Great looking studio!
Any pictures of the control room lights?
Yes., they are coming!
This is CONTROL ROOM B. being built
Pretty simple. No soffits. just angled slot walls filled with lotz of wool for bass absorption, RFZ zone plus broadband absorption
Front and back wall fully absorptive (2 inches) and superchunks in back wall corners.
Since the entry door was located at the slat wall position, we made a new door, following the slot wall angle.
NOTE. no isolation here. we don't need that thankfully (thick concrete and brickwall). Just room treatment
More to come
Pics of studio in action with new lighting/vibe
Nice looking studio!
What kind of recording technique is this? :D

Stereo miking. Two heads / cab wired stereo.
Works good for certain music, its very 3D, specially for stereo delays and stuff like that
I understand why stereo, why the white paper in front of the mics? Never saw this before :P
Its not in front. its AROUND to mark the right spot, just in case another earthquake or some idiot steps on my stands :D
Good one, LOL
Update
well done speedy!
Yeah Javier, its looking good!
When I start my build I'll have you come wave your magic wand and my build wil be done instantly
I dig the lighting and colors, it gives it a "real deal" feel.
hehe
Yes, Eugenio is doing a great work with his control room
Today we are nailing the timber slots and leave them ready for stain.
All that is left is fill the back wall with wool, make the cloth panels for back wall and install laminated flooring and the black fiberglass ceiling and mount the lights
more progress
AC unit installed plus a small fan for leting fresh air get into the room. We are making a small hole into the CR room for passive air circulation. Again, isolation is not an issue as long as the room sounds good, and good mixes come out of it 8)
no comments? because its not room in a room
:horse:
:shot:
It's looking great Javier ;)
thanks John !
So when's the inauguration, Javier? Isn't it about time we spilled some Pisco Sour on that nice new floor? :)

We hope to make one :D
Very cool thread!! I definitely picked up some good info. My home studio is very similar to yours; two neighboring rooms already built, with only 1 of them being boxed in a box. Hopefully my live room will be big enough for drums though... :?
Hi Javier,
Can I ask you a question please?
I see the aluminium foil you placed on the multicore cable you passed through the wall and which you connected to ground.
How exactly did you do that? Did you connect it on your electrical board and on to the ground from there?
I have a multicore cable with an aluminium shield along it, and I'm wondering how to connect that to ground.
Cheers.
Vakis
I placed the foil over the snake cable an then "wrapped" a copper wire "on" it.. that cable went directly to the ground at the wall's electrical outlet..
Javier
If you just wrapped the copper wire on the foil, as the copper oxidizes you are going to lose ground - i.e. a resistance will form creating a ground potential difference.
The wire should be soldered or otherwise firmly, mechanically attached to the foil. You might need a heavier grade foil, better yet, braided shield mantle.
great info, I'll tell this to my electrician!
Cheers
