Those speakers are temporary, but it's quite amazing. The whole room just has that feel about it. real quiet
he he - the old speakers are sounding ok aren't they - that's the affect of soffits.
Hey any more pics to show us or are you having too much fun in that sexy control room? Quick question, what acoustic caulk did you end up using?
Hey, I went with Firesound by Fuller. (I think there is a picture early in the piece) Bought 2 boxes (15 sausages each box) plus one single sausage to finish of the last door! Got it from a Boral store and asked for a discount, worked out to be really cheap. pics- Had a full sheet of 16mm plasterboard plus some off cuts left over so started beefing up the drum room wall that faces the lounge/car spot. Has deadend the wall amazingly. Mainly to stop sound from ppl banging on the wall. But of course the other 3 walls are single layer....... Made the decision to lay laminate timber flooring in the drum room too. So next weekend will be laying that. I have taped and plastered the drum room ceiling, painted the 2 x hard walls and insulated and clothed one of the soft walls. Installed door handles, push plates, jams / seals and magnets on the Entrance door. Also painted door in a gun metal dark grey which looks really good against the chrome handles and push plate. This weekend I'm spending soildering the 2 drum room mic plates, ready for a jazz recording i'm doing in the coming weeks. On the list still to do is: Build the gear rack for all my gear.....anyone wanna help :) I'll pay!! Build last ceiling cloud Build and Install silencers and fans (really dragging my feet on this one) And... Find an electrician to terminate all the GPO's and Light fixtures. Shall i put a final date on it...again... Xmas?! PS- Pic in next Post...sorry Iphone is Updating
beefy goodness

beef is good :)
Yummy! Beef is the best! Beats chickens, if you ask me! :) - Stuart -
The cows I eat feed on grass - they are the most efficient way to transform plant material into usable complete protein. Their milk offers cheeses, yoghurts and creams. They graze land unsuitable for vegetable production, they require no fertilisers or pesticides and are efficiently harvested without the need of fossil fuel based farm machinery. Their by-products such as manure and blood and bone provide fertiliser to grow organic vegetables. Their leftovers feed our fish farms, poultry and pets. Thank you Cows. :thu:
But they do Fart destroying the Ozone layer! :)
G'Day, Recording went GREAT! Did the female Jazz vocals in the large room (drum) into a Rode NT2 and it sound amazing! The room has no "room" sound, the rev is sweet and don't think i'll have to do much to it as far as treatment. Thanks John Inside out rooms are the Bomb. Finsish off wiring and slat walls in control room....starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel

Gotta love those passthrough RJ45 connectors, they make it legal to do yourself :) (stupid Australian telecommunications wiring regulations!)
Oh really? I had no idea about that Adam, I'm just lazy.
My 1st Corner bass trap Poor wo/man's corner trap -I ran a circular saw on a 45 angle down the lenth of a 90x45 -attached equal distance from corner- nail gun -fill with wool -cover with cloth- staple -add slats (still trying to lay the timber flooring so holding off on slat)

and so you should. Building studios is an emotional experience driven by practical necessities.
Small update- I have finished all the corner traps. And actually built my gera racks finally!!! Just need to carpet the surface and find some legs to raise them to the right height. I recorded a band last week also. they didn't mind the un-painted ceiling or lack of air con.......well maybe they minded that a little. Sounding great! Was a chance to test all the tie lines, PH sends and mic points. I had the acoustic guitar amp in the vox booth and th rest of the band in the drum room. Also finished 1/3 of the drum room cloud-centre unit with lights.

Nice - I like the mix of light softwood with the dark hardwood - will use that idea if I may :)
Sure! Might be going a bit over board with the different timbers!
not at all - it's an interesting alternative. I'll use the idea ;) Thankyou.
Hi All, Sorry for the dead air! I have been plodding along doing little bits and pieces that done really show up in pics. But, with a week of work I have layed the final timber flooring in the drum room. Hung the cloud over the mix position. Finished all the trim, skirting and frames to hide all the staples and flaws :) re- Painted the ceilings. Pics- (sorry iphone)
