Hey!
My Names Matt, and I'm 17 years old, I play drums and still live at home. I've managed to take over a small section of my basement since my parents would allow any more! But I am VERY interested in creating a recording studio.. or at least as far as you can go in a small space. I have everything electronic that I would need, Monitors, Interfaces, Soundboards, Mics, Drums, Guitars, Basses, sound cards and an iMac to record with.. Lots and lots of saving up!!!
But now I've run into a problem, my basement isn't finished but I want to create as much of a studio experience that I can !! I need help! I need to know what else to buy!! So I was wondering if anyone could throw me some ideas, now that it's summer and I'm out of school I'll be able to work on it more, but my budget isn't that big (Working at Rogers).
Please post some comments!! Thanks!!

Aloha and welcome to the forum,
Depending on how much building materials cost in your area, you may need to reevaluate your budget.
Try reading several build threads and the "stickies" and take note of the materials used and estimate the cost in your area. This should give you a broad view of what it might take to create that "studio experience."
Here's a couple to start with:

Unfortuantly I don't think my parents would let me construct anything in the basement...
That probaly doesn't help the studio experience does it?
I'm still trying to convince!
Thanks for the post though!!!
Parents enjoy enthusiasm from thier offspring.
They also like to see a focused young adult.
You make an attempt to actually learn some of this stuff hare and THEN, you may be in a better position to sell the folks on your idea.
Don't tell me I would have to know them, because I am one ;)
Anyway if you could consume this information:

You would be in a better position to explain WHY you have to beef up the ceiling of the basement. Give the Benefits not the reasons you want it.
Quiet.
I know that is what I want from the kids ;)
