need air conditioner / exchanger
well...i'm about knee deep until my build here...getting what I can finished before I go in for back surgery...
Anyways...I still don't have a solution for air in my live room...
It's not tremendous (23.5ft x 13.5ft) but i'd like something simple....figure one vent on the end far from the door for air in, one on the end near the door for air out.....
i'd be putting this in the ceiling above the room....i was figuring i'd build some sort of ISO box for the unit and then I'd do some of the diffusion style ducting to kill any sound from that...
but i am in need of a unit to do this for me...any suggestions? i'm looking to not break the bank...is there anything in a 500 dollar range that i should be looking at?

I doubt it... My tiny room's mini split heat pump and my heat recovery ventilator is mostly DIY and I think mine will cost five times that when I finish it.

could you give me a little more info?? as i said...i'm only working with about 300 sq feet or so...
some of the units i've looked at have had optionally external thermostats...something like that would be great too...
the main thing i really need to be able to use/make something to allow ducting on the unit, so one of the larger stand up units wouldn't work for me

Looks very similar to the Soleus MAC-10K & MAC-12K units.
I do not recommend the use of a product like this in a studio context.
Don't miss my communications with Soleus in the "HVAC - What to use? Is DIY an option?" thread.
Quoting the manufacturer in a response to my inquiry: "For sound proof music studios, we do not recommend it because it could create a vacuum . . ."
Quoting myself in the above thread: ". . . the unit provides insufficient fresh air and as such should not be used in air-tight small spaces as an oxygen source."

Bottom line, there's not enough detail in the original poster's thread to be able to provide a specific recommendation. At this point we can only hint at one one should not do for certain things...

As per the "Don't post before" announcement thread, provide the extreme level of detail necessary for us to literally build what you have built so far and what you intend to have when you are done.
If you don't already have a project thread here in the Construction forum, start one.
Pictures and detailed drawings are a must at this point, I would think.
We're eager to help, but there are sooooooo many variables.
