Small multi use space

Post by gearmike »

I'm in the process of putting together a small multi use recording space. The idea is that while recording, the recording equipment would be set up in an adjacent room, and then could be moved in for mixing.

I know its a compromise, but I'm trying to get the most use out of a limited space.

the room dimensions are 10' X 13' with a 10' cieling...

Any ideas on how to treat it?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, some kind of basic drawing would help, doors/windows, etc, along with an idea of what all gear you're going to have "in the wheelbarrow"... Steve

Hey man,

I'm thinking about doing a similar thing, but I was going to have 2 workstations, with geffen extenders and whatnot.

Have you considered that option?

I'll try to get a drawing for you...

but equipment wise, I have a Digi002 rackmount with some pre's and a g4 laptop as the main equipment. I have a two space rack that will stay in the space...it has a headphone amp and a tuner in it for the musicians.

Monitoring during tracking will be on headphones in the other room, but I will be looking at adding a set of near fields when it comes time to mix.

it might be an idea to use invertable panels on the wall with different treatments on each side.

That way you could use one side of the panels for control room usage and simply flip the panels around when you want to use the room for recording.
