Hi guys,
Quick question about fastening insulation. It's been relatively simple for me to affix "rigid" type (702, IB board, etc) to the ceiling and inside walls using Insulation hangers: here's a link below to demonstrate what I've been using:

My concern is with attaching roxul rockwool as it is much more dense, limp and tends to break apart under its own weight...
What kind of adhesives, brackets etc are you using to adhere rockwool to ceilings, floated floors and walls where the design calls for "open" or unsealed cavities, layered back to back.
My wall & floor design is basically SAE's at this link:
http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html
-see how the insulation is just floating in the cavities below the plywood floors...
I don't know how I missed this point in all of my books and forums, but is there a trick?
Thanks!
:D
Question about "hanging" rockwool

I have the same question. I'm thinking of covering each wall panel in fabric then putting velcro strips on the fabric and the wallboard to attach them but I'm not sure if it will work. It would be even trickier for the ceiling. My guess is most people are using some sort of glue or caulk maybe to hang this stuff. I'm going to keep searching old posts here. I'm sure there have been threads about this.
either insulation netting (a plastic mesh), chicken wire, or wire supports will work as well as zig-zagging a thin nylon line. the pins can be used to hold in inside deeper sections where you cannot readily use the above tactics.
Thanks gullfo. Any chance you could elaborate on some of those methods. I have no experience building anything and can't seem to visualize what you're saying.
Sorry, I'm slow!
Actually, I'm doing some ceiling clouds with rockwool that's reinforced with chicken wire and wrapped in cloth right now.
Keep an eye on my build thread HEREbecause I'll be posting some pics up soon of the construction. That might give you a bit of an insight. :)
Hi - mind linking us on an example of insulation netting? This?either insulation netting (a plastic mesh), chicken wire, or wire supports will work as well as zig-zagging a thin nylon line. the pins can be used to hold in inside deeper sections where you cannot readily use the above tactics.
