Looking at this fantastic build:

- I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for my room?
It's unique in that one side wall is sliding glass. Looking at Dynamike's design, some questions come to mind:
1. Does this mess up the "38% distance off the wall" rule?
2. It looks at if the bass trapping is handled on the bottom, but what about the top?
Any suggestion for my room? The dimensions are: 11' wide by 10.5 feet deep. The left-wall has a 6-foot wide sliding door that begins at 18" from the front wall. The rear wall has a 30" door.
Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.
Sexy Ideas For My Control Room

actually its 38% from the front (wall). and centered side-to-side. it can be problematic if the walls are parallel and untreated. one option is to put an absorber on a sliding hanger over the door so you can put it into place when needed. then treat the corners, side, ceiling, and back wall as usual with porous absorbers to cut reflections.
Actually - if I was to do what Dynamike did with the sofits, I would need to do as shown in the pictures. Is this "bad" construction? Is it wrong to fudge it like this in order to make it work?actually its 38% from the front (wall). and centered side-to-side. it can be problematic if the walls are parallel and untreated. one option is to put an absorber on a sliding hanger over the door so you can put it into place when needed. then treat the corners, side, ceiling, and back wall as usual with porous absorbers to cut reflections.
i would still put the absorber on the glass to mirror the opposing wall so its symmetrical when you're mixing. since you'll have the other door fully as glass, visibility should be fine.
But what about my design here? Do you think the limited space - and the work around will be a problem? Will it get claustrophobic? My dimensions are 10.5' (glass wall) x 11' (front "speaker" wall). What do you think? You've always had fantastic design ideas!i would still put the absorber on the glass to mirror the opposing wall so its symmetrical when you're mixing. since you'll have the other door fully as glass, visibility should be fine.
its tight but i think your design is workable. my main concern is the nearly square room so you should plan on trapping in all the upper corners (soffits if you will) to get as much in the space as possible. the soffit angles may be too shallow for the listening position - they may need to be closer to 45 degrees instead of 30 (use 43 degrees).

Man Glen, that's something else! Well, I decided to not put in any sofits because I just don't have the room. My original design will have all four corners with bass traps (Superchunk with a 24" face). There will be two 2x4 panels on the on the opposite wall of the sliding glass door. And one hanging one the door itself. One on the back, and on above the desk. Thanks for the time and that amazing drawing - its always nice to know that the members on the forum are always willing to help.
