Now, I'd like to give thanks to the following wonderful human beings - who selflessly helped me, encouraged me, made me laugh and pissed me off: - John L Sayers (for being so kind as to help me and host this incredible web-site. Cheers Mate!) - Rod Gervias - Steve Knightfly - James (Doublehelix) - CRAM - Dynamkie - Glen (gullfo) - JWL - Lou - Dan Fitzpatrick - Studio 911 - Tom Van - Eric Desart - Dan Scott Hats off to you, your knowledge is priceless and very much appreciated! Now, let's get on with the music already....

Morning Brad - I'm real pleased to be able to be the first to congratulate you on an awesome build!  Great finish work dude, and a cracking colour scheme! Love the console, your ADAT XT, Tascam cassette deck and of course your 414's!!  Top job buddy! Kindest regards to you and yours! Lou. 8) (BTW, which one was you in the last two pics?)
I absolutely love what ye dun with the place, Brad! Great desk too! How does it sound? is it every thing you ever dreamed of? Hats of for pulling it together and sharing it with us. Great pix.
Time to updated THIS thread again ;)
absolutely perfect brad! great job!
looks the part mate. :D all the best with the music. :D pure genius onthe joist hangers on the desk. so simple yet so effective. :D joey
Very Nice Work. And very motivating... I guess I need to get to work now.
Hey Brad, let me add my name to the list of all of those who are congratulating you for a job WELL DONE! Dude, you have created a masterpiece that you can be proud of for a long, long time to come. I feel your pain about taking time away from the family, I am starting to see the effects of that syndrome as well. If nothing else, you kids have learned the lesson of doing things the right way. Involve them down there a bit, it will make them feel like they are a part of it. I love the desk! Very innovative design using the joist braces in the middle like that. Pretty cool! I am really digging how you custom fit in the meter bridges on your mixers! Looks like a pro, custom-designed desk. Nice job! As Lou mentions, great choice of colors, things really blend well, and turned out great! As happy as I am for you, I also wanna kick your butt!!! ;) I wanna be done too!!! Haha! Just kidding buddy! Thanks for all the input and encouragement that you have given me over these last few months, especially your ingenious design of the corner traps around wall plugs! ha! Pure genius I tell you! I will crawl back to my little hole now and keep plugging along, knowing that some day, I will be able to post my "finished" set of pictures as well. Take care Brad, and enjoy your new place. Just remember where you came from! From how you described it before, I would say that you have come miles and miles. If you are ever in the Indy area, stop by and we can chat over a beer or two.

also note the choice of wood by mr jacob for the support under his console - TGI or (BGI if yer using Boise®).. It's ply wood so it won't kick slightly over time as it is not housed in a structure (like a wall). Standard 2x4's would turn into hockey sticks eh??

methods to one's madness are fun to observe. Hey Brad! Did you ever pick up that screw you dropped on the rug right there?? ;)

Marc - You're AWESOME man!! That's exactly "why" I used plywood. I had a 2x4 in the front and two 2x6 in the back. The wood didn't so much "sink" - but what happened was the wood shrunk - and wound up "bowing" upwards. The whole board was wobbling from side to side. Mind you, the humidity level down there is an avg of 30%. That's like Western-dryness. Not good for an acoustic guitar that you'd like to see survive!! So yeah, I cut some plywood into strips, and glued and screwed them. Marc is 100% correct... those home-made "joists" will NEVER move. Birch plywood - at Lowes, can't beat it! And yes, I picked up that cock-roach looking screw
Guys - Just hearing all the Kudos you're giving me, is equally gradifying as completing the studio. It's a great feeling to know that I'm inspiring or helping someone out there. So guys - keep the kind words coming  THANKS !!!

Ok... I'll give you a kind word alright... BUTHEAD!!! ;) I am sooooo jealous of your cool build dude! Congrats one more time!
One could only wish he had low ceilings!!! Just for that, I think I'll steal the plywood support and joist hanger idea and when all my friends marvel, I'll just smile and say, thank you. Thank you very much. :D Again, great job, Brad. If I wasn't staring at my equipment, I'd be tempted to think you've stolen mine...the dbx compressors, the Manley, the VLA, Lexicon and Alesis...hell, I even have a couple of those Behringer pre's laying around. Then we can move on to the guitars...got all of those in the collection (plus a few others out of site of the wife lest she tries to make me sell them for the studio I want to construct).

I didn't even notice those were several layers of plywood glued together. I just thought you got them built that way - much the way support beams are constructed for this purpose. I'm a Woodworker on the side. I've seen every type of kick and heave when it comes to woodand learned painfully (think about a tiger maple shelf already put together and THEN kicking...) to let wood that is supposed to stay true after construction to sit a while.
Awesome job Brad. Looks fantabulous. Did I miss How does it sound? As many have said at the completion "they are glad to be finished and moving forward." But give it a year. I already have the itch to build another. Congratulations Tom
I'm only about 2.5 hours south of you. When can I come up and take a tour? :D

I don't know if a tour would do any better than the pix!! The rooms are pretty small
