Hey Dan - how you fixed in January? John and Rod are gonna be busy I guess.   'Bloody beautifull'. (Simple U.K. expression for something that gives someone from England much, no I really mean MUCH, visual delight.) Top build Dude, Kindest regards to you and yours, Lou. 8)
Hey Guys and Gals? Been sucking poly fumes for a few days and think I've burnt some brain cells  Thank God I'm finished with all the staining and touch up paint! Medboy Wrote:l
Cant wait to see all the gear go in
Me Too!! :D I'm actually going to pick up Pro Tools HD/3 Acell with the Control 24 tommorw :D :D :D Before I configure everything, I still have about 250 TRS cables jacks to wire up and 3 Patch Bay's to hook up. I'm going to have all my cables custom sized and neatly organized so there isn't a huge pile of extra cabling everywhere. With the 3 bay's, I'll be able to re-route my little butt off! XSpace, Ro, Dynamike, and Joey, thanks so much for your compliments. Yeah, I watch alot of the design programs on HGTV :D I figured because it was such a small space, I would go with nicer, stain grade trim, seeing the doors were birch laminate, it was hard for me to paint them. Also, the desk was birch plywood and so pretty. I just couldn't bring myself to painting it all black and it really did turn out beautiful after 5 coats. XSpace, I think the camera angle is creating an optical illusion. I pride myself on everything being square, plumb and level. I ran across a bit of a promblem with the automatic door bottoms on 2 of the doors because the concrete floor in my garage was un-level and had some little humps in it  half of the door would seal to the floor, but where the hump was, it had air space underneath  All the other doors sealed good and with the double doors, it's great isolation :) What sucks is the problem doors are between the CR and DR. I'll probably have to jamb something between the double doors if neccessary to fill the gap during drum recording??? Hey Lou, I love the way you guys in the U.K. talk :D and thanks for the great compliment kind sir. January, I'll be learning Pro Tools HD and all my new toys :? I'm not going to miss suckin' dust, itching from insulation, cutting wood, getting splinters, painting, staining, crawiling around on the floor, falling off ladders, cleaning the floor for the millionth time, etc if you know what I mean. Why do you ask? Just curious. You don't want me to fly over and help get you finished do you? Well, Here's a few pics of the lounge so far. I hung thick tapestry type curtains acorss the whole back wall which leads to the house. I serves 2 purposes by convering the door into my house and providing some acousitcal dampening. There's 8 panels on an 8' wall so there pretty bunched up and thick. I was also actually able to get some furniture in there along with a little fridge and water cooler (still in box). I still need to get a flat screen to put on the wall. Also, heres the desk stained before it gets covered up with gear. I'm going to paint the little keyboard stand black. Later, Dan

Hi Everyone, Hope you all had a great Holiday season. I sure did. I'm all geared up but still need to hook everything up. Before I post my final pic's, I need to finish all of my acoustical treatments. Here are some absorber panels I built from 1x4's, Mineral wool and fabric. Very simple design but very effective. I hung six in the control room and can't believe the difference already. Once the extra LENRD bass traps and wedge foam go in, as well as my rugs and fabric chairs, I expect a pretty nice sounding room. Here are a few photos of how I did the boxes and hung them. I actually used construction adhesive to attach the slats to the wall which the panels hung on. Check it out. Dan

Very nice as usual! I am getting close to the acoustic treatment step and am anxious to hear the difference it makes. Glad to hear that yours was such a big improvement. Congrats!
Sup Everyone, Well it's been a couple weeks since my last post but I am finally finished with my construction. I spent the last couple weeks decorating, configuring gear and reading books on Pro Tools, etc. a friend of mine custom made all my cables and put everything on patch including all mic/line ins/outs, snake boxes, instruments, etc. I am including a few pics of his fine work with the final photos of some of the gear. I am also posting all the rooms. Dan

:o WOW!!!! That looks great... love the studio... everything came out great... very unique things... keep it up man... congrats Kalet Ensonix Studios
I have to say it LOOKS good, now how does it sound? (sorry, wasn't paying too much attention on the construction itself cus I was too damn impressed)
nice job mate. slightly off topic but i was thinking of getting one of those akai controllers for my pro tools hd rig. havent had a chance to play with one yet and just wanted to know what you thought of it ? thanks joey ps enjoy the studio.
Wow! I am amazed at how fast you were able to accomplish so much! Congrats dude, that is really looking sweet!
Thanks Guys, The studio sounds amazing! The acoustic treatments really work and those Yamaha HS80M's are great nearfields for mixing. I'm using the KRK's and sub for an aux reference mix and the bass is boomin' as well as real tight and clean. The sophit traps and LENRD foam are really taking care of the bass signals and the two chairs are also helping absorb I'm sure. I cranked it as loud as it would go and could barely hear the bass outside. You can't hear nuthin in the house at all. I am noticing better isolation over time as the green glue cures. I will tune the rooms soon. Dan
Holy crap, now I remember! You're the "garage-studio" guy. Hats off brother, you did an amazing job! Moderators, how about UPDATING those "completed studios" stickies... You got this one, Dynamike's, Double-Helix & coming soon Brad's (31-Jan) and I'm sure there are a lot more I forgot to mention. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME !!!
Joey, The Akia MK49 Controller ROCKS! If I could ever figure it out :? A good friend who is a MIDI guru speaks very highly of it as well as others I've talked to in the biz. Dan
cheers dan joey
CHEERS! :D
Dan, Your room looks absolutely magnificent - kudos on a job well done. That shows what people can do when they pay attention to detail. My hat is off to you sir Sincerely Rod
Thanks Rod, That means alot coming from a guru such as yourself :D Thanks for an awesome book! Dan
See, I don't log in here for a week or two and I miss awesome stuff like this happening! Looks amazing, congrats! :)
".............................................................. ...................................................................... ..............................................................................Awesome!" Regards, and congrats on a really great job well done. If you can operate a Korg Karma, then you'll fly through the MK49! (If the dark red keyboard is a Korg Karma of course.)   Lou. 8)
