Dan...you are making great time. It reads like your framing this up mostly by yourself? I mean, sure, it's not brain surgery right...but you have achieved a lot in , what, 3-4 weeks?
Oh, when the rock install begins, I'm gonna be sick that week:)

Darn, I thought you were going to come over and help  Yes, I did the framing with a little help from my friend. It helps to have someone hold the other end of a board if you know what I mean. I've decided to hire a crew to hang and finish the rock . I built 5 houses last year and the same crew of my Mexican friends did excellent work for the down low and are FAST. They should be because this is all they do day in and day out. Of course, my project is new to them and I will be there every minute following behind with backer rod and caulk. I'll have to make sure things are getting done correctly if you know what I mean. One of the reasons for the fast progress is because I'm actually not working right now. The realestate market has crashed in Atlanta and things are bad for a lot of builders and folks in realestate. I had gotten into buying foreclosures about 5 years ago then moved into flipping/building houses. Prior to that, I owned a home based production studio. It wasn't as pro as my new one will be but I stayed pretty busy. Now I'm much better financially able to do it right this time so I'm going balls out with the construction and new gear. I am blessed and really exited about getting it started again. I never dreamed I would be going back into the recording business with a totally pro studio but when things took a turn for the worst with the housing market, I can say I'm glad I have other "skillz" like music production and engineering. The realestate business was good but alsovery stressful and risky. I'm kind of relieved it's over. One cool thing is I won't have to complain about the high gas prices cuz I won't have to leave the house to go to work :D Heck, I won't even have to get dressed if I don't want to. Now, I know I'm not the only one who has mixed audio in my underwear  So basically, a BIG motivator for me to move along as quick as possible and work my tail off to get cranked up is because I don't have a job! No cashflow :o I'm basically creating myself a job so my goal is to get things complete by the 1st of the year. I'll most likely get the insulation in over the weekend and call of Monday morning for insulation inspection. If the inspector comes out Tuesday, I should be able to start sheetrock and get the first layer on by the end of next week. Check back for more pic's once insulation is in. Thanks for the interest in my project and I appreciate you guys and this forum. Everybody enjoy your Turkey Day and behave with the Pecan and Pumkin Pies :D DanOh, when the rock install begins, I'm gonna be sick that week:)
Hey everyone,
Well insulation is finished THANK GOD! That was the worst job I have ever done. It took me longer than I expected but I did stuff the ceiling twice and it took exactly 50 bags of the 3" R39 Mineral wool SAFB. I'm expecting inspection tommorow and clear to start sheetrock. Here are some photos of the rooms with insulation.

Dan,
Very cool and impressive. Love the floors. Are you using camera's for viewing the other rooms?
Peace
Tom
It gets me horny just looking at it Dan :)
Down boy, down boy  and yes Tom, I have run video feeds to all the rooms except the vocal booth. It's going to have a small 8"x8" windows in the doors for those who may be a little claustophobic but that's really the only reason for the windows.
The only practicle visual need is usually from the control room to the live room but in my old studio I didn't have visual link between these areas and the clients actually liked the "privacy" of others in the control room not staring at them while performing.
I'll have the video as an option if they want visual contact while recording.
Thanks for the interest in my build :D

Sup Everyone,
As usual, things are moving along real fast :D My sheetrock crew along with myself installing the backer rod and sealant blew through the whole studio in 2 days. These photos show the rooms before sanding on Monday.
It took 6 cases of Green Glue and 2 cases of acoustic sealant to complete everything and my right hand feels like it's going to fall off!!
Enjoy the pics,
Dan

WOW! You are making some serious progress! Holy smokes, you are flying! I am soooo jealous! It feels like we are creeping along like a snail, and here you come along and leave us all in the dust!!
Haha! Great job, and looking sweet!
Hey Everyone,
14 hour days are kicking my tail but the hard work is starting to really come together. I primed all the walls then painted the colors. I had to paint the vox booth and drum room twice as I originally used the same color as the lounge but just couldn't live with the bright copper  I kept it in the lounge area as it's a getaway from the darker colors.
My electrician also installed all my outlets, switches and lights on Friday and after turning the lights on for the first time, I noticed many places where I'll have to sand and touch up the paint. I'll save all that for after the doors and trim are installed.
Here are some pics for ya'll to check out.

It's Sunday and the weather was un-seasonable warm today. I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and tackle my largest slat rez for the drum room. It took me 8 hours to consruct and install but it was worth it. It was 9' high by 64" wide and the thing must have weighed a 100 lbs once put together. It was a real challenge getting into the drum room and erected with my wifes help. What a trooper!
very nice work! you must be psyched!
Wow! Go back to page one, and see how far you have come in a very short amount of time! Looking good dude! It won't be long now!

Thanks Dude and yes, I am getting exited. The 14 hour days are paying off quickly! DH, you are right, I started tearing out my garage on Oct 16th! I've been to busy to consider the time that has passed but you are right, WOW, I am hauling ass. I finished the vox booth resonator yesterday, and stained my butt off in preparation for door and trim install today and possibly tommorow. Once the doors are installed, I will still have to stain and seal the them as well as the hemholts reze's. Here are some more pics. Danvery nice work! you must be psyched!
Hi Everyone,
I've been steady at it and got all the doors and trim installed and stained. Whew, the fumes are a killer
I also picked up 4 sheets of cabinet grade plywood and had my carpenter buddy make me a desk and some rack boxes. I still need to fill holes, seams and stain but it's going to look great. I ripped some of that RB3 door casing down to make a nice fat bull nose edge which finishes it off nicely :D
Here are some pics.
