did i do something wrong???
sorry, i thought i did what was asked. if it was the location, i thought that ment to put that in the question. what i got out of the guidlines was to be specific. that we are supposed to put in as much info as possble. thought thats what i was doing. again, sorry. i just don't know how to proceed. was looking for some experienced people giving me some real world advice and a sense of what is possible with the limits i am facing. does this mean i am not welcome?

If I may ask, what was this in reference to? Aloha 8)
in reference to my first ever post. i thought i was following protocol. i guess not. i wrote my question after reading a few other posts on a similar topic. i noticed others were getting responses. not me. i could bore you with my station in life and my love of writing, playing and recording music. i am a new dad, trying to balance music and my family. not easy. i really need a quality recording studio that is quiet enough not wake my son. i just found the site, much to my very pleasent suprise. to no avail. i thought i wrote my question in a similar fashion to other posts. i guess i am not welcome. thank you for your interest. i do appriciate it. its not like i was cmbative or rude. oh well. thanks again...
Aloha, Congrats on being a new dad! Were you referring to the post here? http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... ght=#66432 If so, might I suggest: - starting a new post in the design forum (instead of in the middle of an on-going project belonging to someone else ) - include as much info as possible (H x W x L, a floor plan with doors windows, accurate measurements, etc)as outlined here http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231 I think you'll find a better response and solution to your question by doing so. Hope this helps and looking forward to your build! Aloha 8)

thanks!. i thought i did start a new topic: i must have messed something up... here is what i wrote. not sure what i did wrong. should i re-post this. it had the title. basement studio - expectation. a bit gun shy right now. i was hoping to get the space done by christmas, if not thanksgiving. i am really focused on getting it done. thanks for the help. hello. just ordered rods book. can't wait to get it. super glad to have found this site. i read the before you post, post so here it goes. i currently have a basement studio in baltimore, MD. with no sound proofing. my goal is to get it quiet enough to be able to record live drums, guitar, bass the works as well as rehearse late into the night, say midnight without waking my 2 year old son. assesing his tolerence for noise. we watch tv at night at a decent volume right accros a small hall. he can handle the useal barking dog, motorcycle, washer, kitchen general house noise. as for budget, 3000 dollars is the target. i did some basic estimating and i was heading for 5000. ouch! if i can have a band practice at 11:00 pm and not wake to boy, well, 5000 is worth it. the space: 7' tall basement. about 14'x22'. 2 windows on one wall, 16"x32" so about 68" is under ground. block walls on 3 sides. one long wall is the stair case with 2 door ways. i am planing on only one entry. stairs down the middle. most likely a one room studio. i mainly work alone. to record drums i have to see the board, tape machine and all. i may consider a contol room design if it helps the cause. there is central heat/ac. 2 sends into the space, no return. as for the house. built in 1962. colonial 2 story single. brick first floor, siding on second. all walls are 2 layers of sheet rock(the type that is actually rocky, if you know what i mean. not like current sheetrock) son sleeps on the second floor. currently the walls are paneling, the ceiling is 2 layers of sheetrock with acoustic tiles, done back in the day. i have handle on what i think i need to do. i understand the 2 leaf wall. thats not to big of a deal. not sure about the ceiling or the floor. how to handle that. also which comes first the walls or the ceiling.i just have no way of guessing how quiet things will be. be a big bummer if i spent 3000 and it's not quiet enough. thanks in advance!
