Hi ppl...
Im in the final fase of my STUDIO CONSTRUCTION ( www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8109 ) and reading all information i gather in this forum i came whith 2 diferent (i think) ways 2 softfit the speakers.
I would like some opinions on what´s the better way...
One is the way John S recomended on my project and Kendale also used on his (i think) and the other method i dont remember where i found it... Im going 2 do the John´s method, but reading the other process, well, i would like some other ideas...
The thing is in the S2, the 2 panels are not conected i think. The Speaker is suported only on the back structure.
Am i messing it all up and in the end of the day its all the same ?
Thanks in advance
Djo
PS - the S2 method is detaild on a WORD file iv compiled...
Softfit 1 VS Softfit 2 ...The best ???

The S2 method....
no reason you can't combine the two methods. the second one (I think was proposed by Barefoot) shows one method of isolating the monitor from the front frame and soffit plate. the rest of the construct with bass trapping etc could be built like the sofft 1 (drawing) with the exception you're suspending the monitor support from the back frame rather than having a hard connection... the soffit 1 photo is either a different construct than the drawing or shown at a different phase of constructing it...
For my speakers I'm planning on supporting them on what I call their own "island". Basically, I'll build my speaker stands with concrete/cinder blocks and fill the insides with sand. I'll then mount the speakers on the blocks and build my soffit frame around the stand-speakers. By doing this I'll be decoupling the speakers from the frame which should decrease flanking sound transmission.
There have been others to do this method, but the only one I can think of is Aaron. Be SURE to read through all of his soffit construction as I believe he wished he had done some part of his speaker stand construction differently.
Ok ok...
Gulfo..that was also my idea...2 combine S1 whith S2....
From what i can say, tha SAND option is "outdated"...maybe im wrong, not sure. But you concept is quite intresting... but im in the final phase...S1 + S2 = djo soffit speakers!! ehheheh
Thanks

Those stands are placed where ? Into the floor ? A platform kind like the Grandma from Auralex ? Or are you placing just below the speakers some kind of anti-vibrating material (which would be my suggestion) I'm not sure about sand but concrete while works wonderfully for airborne sounds in terms of low frequency/vibrations it''s not.For my speakers I'm planning on supporting them on what I call their own "island". Basically, I'll build my speaker stands with concrete/cinder blocks and fill the insides with sand.
Andre' this is what I'm talking about...

Like always in this forum.... 2 much info!! hehehehe
So now i have 3 alternatives 2 softfit my speakers. Im refering on suporting the speakers. This 3rd one, building a brick Suport, its inviting me 2 do it.
I think it makes sense whith the MASS concept (Absorving the vibrations)...
Am i correct ? Does anyone tryed or sought all this methods...
Opinions please...
Thanks
