Homasote, Celotex and probably a few others, are trade names for "regurgitated shredded compressed paper" panels - somewhat absorbent, pretty light weight and expensive for what you get. For wall isolation, it's NOT recommended by people who know - another layer of gypsum wallboard works much better.
For traps, maybe - but the cost isn't worth using it INSIDE a trap like the ones you linked to. If I were trying for more low absorption (at the cost of mids/highs) I might consider FACING an absorbent trap with the stuff, but at the moment I have nothing beyond conjecture to back that up.
In short, I wouldn't use it for what you want - just build like the link pics, place in corners and reflection points and on the ceiling halfway between your head and the speakers, and be happy :wink: Steve
