Is all Hat Channel "Hat Channel"?

Hi all, I went down to my local "home center" to purchase hat channel, and in the drywall section, I found long strips of flimsy-metal in the shape of hat channel called "furring" for $5.40 per 10ft strip. I took out my RSIC clip, and it fit over the thing just right, so I'm assuming it is, indeed, hat channel. But it was so flimsy that I didn't know. I figured to have some decent gauge steel or something. So, first-time confidence waned, and I fly to this forum for help and advice: is what I saw at the home center actually hat channel that I want to use to hang my ceiling from?
