Attached is a sketchup file that has plans for the cloud design I ended up going with. Slightly different from the one pictured on the thread (for weight reasons). A couple things to note... I used 1/8" mdf hard board to create sides around the cloud frame and hide the insulation inside of it. This isn't shown on the plans but you can see it in my studio. This makes the cloud look big and architectural but keeps it rather light and easy to hang. I decided, last minute, to use a walnut veneer on the bottom face of the cloud to match my flooring. I screwed up and had to try and re glue the laminate after several tries. The best method I came up with was to use a construction adhesive like PL Premium spread very thin and then clamping the veneer in place. PL stays wet and movable for about 45min. which contact cement does not. It seemed to work for me in the end, but overall, if you are going to veneer a cloud or anything in your studio, I assume it is for show and you are going to need to do your homework or get someone experienced to do it for you. When stretching fabric over a wood frame (which a lot of people who use this site do) I used a closed cell weather striping around where the wood made contact with the fabric. I did this on all acoustic panels in the studio. This gives a much more uniform and professional look then the standard "a couple 2x4's nailed together, some burlap, and a bunch of rock wool stuffed inside" technique (which looks like garbage and is the reason why so many companies out there can charge $100 and up for a single sheet of 2" OC 703 that has been nicely wrapped in fabric). For some reason, I can't post pictures on this thread anymore. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but anyways, I'll try to get some more pics of the process and the finished product up for you all to see! I'll second what Mark said about the diffuser on your back wall. It won't do anything good that wall is just too close for diffusion. diffusion can be an option if the time that the sound takes to return to to listener from the back wall is over 20ms. Any value under that figure and you better put some hi freq absorber on the back or imaging will probably suffer as well as freq. cancellation. All in all it's your call, it sure looks cool tho. Have a look here : http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... c&start=15 about the middle of the page BTW it look very good.
