Hi folks, My name is Fran and I'm writing you from spain. Sorry, my english it's terrible!. I need to build a floated room to record acoustics batteries. After to read a lot in this stupendous forum I insert my doubt with the hope that someone can help me and to correct my errors: It is enough isolation like not to bother neighbors? Thanks a lot for your help.

:( nobody ???
Fran, you should start by reading through the first few topics in the REFERENCE section in this forum; look for the words "mass-air-mass". Your drawing shows too many layers and air gaps, and would only cost you a LOT of money for a space that will disappoint you. Before I start suggesting changes though, I need to know how close your neighbors are. Is your building going to actually touch other buildings? IF you can answer as many of these questions as possible http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231 It will help me improve your design so it costs less and works better... Steve (I have no idea how badly Babelfish ruined my words, since my Spanish is 1000 times worse than your English  )
Thanks a lot for your answer. This weekend I'll prepare all documents, pictures and plans... Thank you very much. Fran.

This year I only prepare the 'aguilas del teide' studio, the 'nido de águila' maeby next year... Again, thanks for your help... :(
Fran, is the last picture you posted showing how the studio is right now? Is this the room you want to record drums in? If this is true, can you draw EXACTLY how your ceiling is made, starting with those acoustic tiles and showing EACH LAYER between the studio and the room that is above the studio? I need measurements for each thickness too, including any air gaps or insulation. Also, I need to know how your studio walls are connected to the ceiling. Show as much detail as you can - without this, it will not be possible for me to know what to recommend for you... Steve
Thanks a lot Steve for your help. YES, this is the main studio where I'll take drums, bass and guitar amps.... Okey, this weekend I'll post new draws and technical informatin about the structure. Again, Thanks a lot Steve, thanks. Fran.

Okey, I take some pictures from the commercial premises construction next to the studio(wall to wall) and We can see the building structure: - ceiling: 150mm concrete blocks with 100mm cement layer (picture named 'techo1') - walls: dual layer of 150mm concrete blocks (picture named 'pared_rota') without separatin among them. - floor: 100mm cement layer (picture named 'suelo1') - overview: you can see how is the structure (picture named 'esquina-1') This is the builidng structure.

The new studio concrete walls is over the original ceramic floor with 45mm of fibreglass between original walls and new cocrete walls and never touch the original cealing. The picture where you can see the recordign studio finish, the plasterboard ceiling was made like this: - original ceiling: concrete block, holow core and painted - 60mm air space - 80mm fibleglass - 15mm plasterboard, white painted - acoustical panels I know the 100% sound insulation will be impossible... but with 70dBa sound insulaiton I'll be happy. Thanks for your help and support.
Are your rooms closed in (doors in place, etc) and if so, what is your isolation like at this time? Steve
Hi Steve, Yes, I have RF-90 doors. We have been doing tests with snares, toms and bassdrum (bombo) and the result will be +/-50dBa of insulation at this moment... I need other 50~60dBa extra for airsound. Will be possible?
The single layer of 15mm drywall isn't going to get you there - better if it is THREE layers but you would need to make sure your existing construction will support the weight. Are all of your outer, concrete walls/ceilings completely SEALED so there are no holes in them? What is supporting your single layer of 15mm drywall on the ceiling, and can it support two more layers? Steve
Hi Steve, Yes, all new concrete walls has completely sealed with 5mm hollow layer. I will remove the actual ceiling to install another one ready for the new specifications. The three layer will be only for cealing? You can see at this link the actual cealing supporting (very very similar): http://www.acusticaintegral.com/product ... /ac500.htm And this will be the new cealing supporting: http://www.acusticaintegral.com/product ... bft900.htm What can I do in walls and floor?? Best regards, Fran.
