Just a quick one here... The builders that are working on our studio have spent the last few days putting up interior stud walling for the control room inner leaf. It is the common design of (Studio side) 3x12.5mm wallboard - 2x4 with rockwool - 9" airgap - 3x12.5mm wallboard - 2x4 with rockwool - cloth (Control room side). The ceiling is essentially the same construction, with 2 layers of wallboard rather than 3. My only concern is that they havent been overly neat with the joints on the plasterboard. Around the corners, where the top of the wall joins the ceiling, they have left gaps ranging from 1/2" to 3" at some places (this is on the inner skin). These gaps go right through both layers of plasterboard and I can see outside through them. They were intending to cut some small wedges of wallboard and glue those in, and than silicone the joins, but I am not sure of this. Are these going to cause significant problems, and should I be asking them to rip out the wallboard in the ceiling and redo it? They were suggesting expanding-foam to fill the gaps, but again I wasn't sure as I can't see this having a particularly high TL. Or am I worrying over nothing? Thanks a lot for your help, much appreciated. Al
Obviously that was meant to say 'urgent' :) BTW - we forgot the password of the old account, which is why we setup this new one. Also, the studio had a name change, so we thought it was fitting. Just mentioning as I know there has been problems with people using multiple accounts before :) Cheers fella's Al
Aloha Al,

This would depend on your isolation needs: you from the outside world & the outside world from you. Wherever air goes, sound goes... Here's a couple of links from the Reference Section http://johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2125 on caulking: How to drywall and caulk? Step Sequence.... http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=20003 Caulk and Insulation - the name says it all - http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2045 More on Caulking - scroll down about half the page http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... c&start=15 Hope this helps, Aloha 8)
thanks for the info
