Ok, this is a detached garage conversion. Garage dimensions are 28ft deep & 24ft wide with 8ft ceilings. -2x4 wall construction with T-111 plywood siding, no insulation -2x4 truss roof with ridge vent, no insulation -concrete slab -no windows, one steel entry door, one 16ft wide garage door The studio will be 12.8ft deep 18.6ft wide 8ft tall This space will be used for drum practice. From what I've learned on the boards I believe this will be about 100-110 Db. I have neighbors 80ft from the garage. They are tolerant but the more noise I can cut the better. If possible I would like to practice at night. This is in a quiet town and at night you can here traffic from a main road that is three blocks away. The ordinance in my town dose not have a strict guideline (I live in a small town ) Budget $2000 Will a drum riser help the overall outside stc, or is that only used for separating the control room form the live room? Is it ok I create a MAM setup between the ceiling & roof. it's a gable roof with a 6/12 pitch trusses. Here are my plans: -asphalt shingles -felt -3/4 chip board -insulation -air gap -insulation -5/8 drywall -5/8 drywall Will clogging the ventilation in the roof cause a problem? (I have prepared drawings to help assist my other questions.) (studio pic) Will the third leaf created by the entry wall in the garage cause a problem? I am not allowed to insulate the garage side. Is it better to have the wall inbetween the studio and garage entry, or should I eliminate it? (MAM pic) What stc rating will this wall setup have?
