Hi my name's Jerry from Ontario Canada...
So, I've researched this forum and read any posts that discussed sonoflex acoustical ceiling tiles (2x4') as an alternative to 703 and 705 insulation in the construction of bass traps similar to the ones constructed in this photo essay: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4581
Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the answer to my questions.
I can't find Owens Corning 703 or 705, but the local home depot does have the Armstrong sonoflex panels. My question is how many of these panels do I need to use to get a good bass trap (the sonoflex panels are 5/8" thick). Do I need 6 of them layered on top of eachother to get the same effect as two layers of OC 705? Or will less then that get equivalent results? I was hoping three of them layered would give me adequate results for a bass trap -thoughts on this?
My last question is.. does it matter which way the bottom most panel faces? I wanted to position the last panel (the back of the trap) so that the white painted side faces out (towards the corner that the trap is covering). That way there're no worries about fibres escaping. Would this reduce the functioning of the trap? Thanks for your time fellas (and ladies? Are there any ladies on this forum?)

Thanks David...
I assume Fibrex products are interchangeable with other semi rigid insulation panels -like OC 700 series? Have you used this product and gotten good acoustic results? If so, which of their products did you use for you bass traps?
I have never used Fibrex stuff, but I guarantee that it will be interchangeable with the OC stuff, or any other company's rigid glass fiber boards.
