My tread is here http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5933 Anyone tried this way of floating a floor/building a wall.. will it work? Or is it a waste? Got walls of 300mm concreet around me. Hope you understand my sketchup file

downloaded your skp and just wanted to ask you if you could put in some pointers and tell me/us what material's going where...is the green stuff on the floor insulation of some sort and is the particleboard and gypsum just lying on top of that?? no studs in the floor? and why don't you put the walls ON TOP of the floated floor? that's something that increases the way the construction isolates from the structure. best andreas
Sorry for my bad explanation and bad english.. blabla :D . The green stuff is heavy rocwool insulation intended for floating floor. There will be plaster underneeth that. 22mm Fiberboards over the insulation and a sheet of foam/wool and then the parkett. This is a common way to lay floating floor in Norway. The wall is built on rubber and i intend to use steel framing. There will be seperatet concreet floor for each room, and with this kind of floating floor I think it is better to NOT have the walls on top of the floor. My question is: Have anybody tried this way, and what is the pluss/drawback of this? The house is not yet built, so i have a chance to lay electric or waterheating in the floor. Then the moisture problems will be eliminated. Question for Nightfly: I see that it is not recomnded to have sand in the floor. But i have a studio in an old boathouse(3.rd floor) whit sand in floor, andit works wery well! Of couse there is no moisture problems at the 3rd floor in an leaky old boathouse, compared to a concreet basement. But if i use heating in the floor, will sand be an option that can be even better?
