Aloha,
You can export JPEGs from the trial version. I think it's under the FILE menu.
File>Export>2D Graphic... I thought the free version was fully functional for 30 days.
Thank you, gentlemen! :D Aloha 8)

Aloha, testing... - edit - Aloha 8)
Is there a question in there somewhere? Steve
Aloha Steve, No question. I was just doing a test (in response to someone else's question) to see what kind of files I am able to attach. It appears that I am allowed to attach jpeg and .gif files, but no bmp files. That's all it was. But thanks for asking. Aloha 8)
BMP files will easily exceed the 150k file size anyway; typical - just checked one file I uploaded a while back, the bmp version is 1.5 megs, the jpg version is 93k - I've found that generally jpg's give truer color rendition than tif's or gif's, YMMV... Steve
Aloha, Small update - Finally had a couple of free hours, so I started assembling rear absorbers - the first of four - pics to follow. :D Aloha 8)
Aloha, Rear absorber - the first of four. Pics by piano, guitar, amp for size comparison  Aloha 8)

Aloha, Thanks Len, I appreciate that. Say, how did your bass hanger situation turn out? I don't recall reading if you had resolved those questions you had. Spent the afternoon knocking out another rear absorber. (#2 of 6) It's interesting how I never seem to be quite prepared for the "physical presence" these absorbers have in person. Still waiting for contractor friend to help hang the first of possibly two clouds. :( In the meantime it's back to Lowe's/Home Depot for more supplies. :D Aloha 8)

I'm still working on it. I haven't posted to my build thread in a while. Most of the design work went on behind the scenes with knightfly. I've started building the CR rear wall and have pictures which I will post soon. I finally managed to score on mineral wool of the proper thickness and density and a only .76/sq ft. It should arrive Tuesday. I've spent the weekend working on the rear wall framing that it's going to go into. I've bought enough to build the slatted wall in the main room, and should still have enough left over for a few ceiling clouds and corner traps in the the main room and drum room. That will leave me with just the speaker wall to build once we figure out what to do about the poorly placed ventalation registers. len
Aloha, Update: rear absorbers done! :D The room is definitely getting quieter and I am begining to hear the "confines" or "space" of the area I am in. Initial listening to reference cuts are begining to reveal more of the subtlties of reverbs used in mixdown. Cool. Next up: side rear absorbers (2 units), front side absorbers (2 units), 2nd cloud unit. (Still waiting on contractor friend to help hang 1st cloud :( ) Aloha 8)

Aloha Kendale! So, from the pic I gather you move the traps up when you mix? Also, what are you noticing as the biggest difference in how things sound now with the treatments you've installed? Is it more on the lower frequencies? And lastly, is there a difference in the volume level you listened to before compared to now? I've heard that once treatments are put in, most people end up reducing the amount of volume gain because of better "presence" in their music. BTW...those traps look GREAT...most likely, er, I'll be using some of your ideas...
Aloha Stan, Thanks for stopping in. :D

According to my understanding, these are supposed to be placed at the rear wall, but...(there's always a but somewhere, eh? ) the piano is against the rear wall and there really is nowhere else to put it so...they might either end up being up against the piano or moved up. I'll have to do a couple of mixes either way to see which works best.
Also, what are you noticing as the biggest difference in how things sound now with the treatments you've installed? Is it more on the lower frequencies?
The main differences is that I can hear the monitors and soundstage much better and less "room" artifacts. With the side absorbers, the mid lows cleared up noticably allowing the HF to really sparkle. I've a got a mix scheduled early next week so we'll see then what kind of difference there is on the low end.
And lastly, is there a difference in the volume level you listened to before compared to now? I've heard that once treatments are put in, most people end up reducing the amount of volume gain because of better "presence" in their music.
Yes, there is a difference. Interesting that you should mention that. (not a bad thing considering there should be less fatigue during those long sessions.) I did notice that very same thing as the side absorbers went in, so I'll hazard a guess that it should continue with the rear being absorbed as well.
BTW...those traps look GREAT...most likely, er, I'll be using some of your ideas...
Hey, thanks. If the posts & pictures are helpful to you, then by all means! I believe that's the whole point of this forum. I'd love to hear/see pics of your place as things start rolling for you. Aloha 8)
Aloha, Update: side rear absorbers almost done (ran out of Guildford of Maine cloth...again  ) Aloha 8)

Looks great Kendale... Just curious to know... 1.) How much the cloth ran (per ft.?) 2.) How long did it take to get it in? 3.) Did you have some kind of brochure to be able to select different colors or textures? Thanx!
Kendale! wow! The pictures and the work you've done is truly amazing and inspiring. I've been following your progress closely because I'm trying to design/achieve something similar to what you've done to your room.
Aloha, Thanks, guys. Where to order: http://www.silentsource.com/gom_index.html http://www.acousticalsolutions.com/prod ... ilford.asp 1.) How much the cloth ran (per ft.?) Silent Source: Fabric price is $15.00 per linear yard. Fabric is 66" wide. Full bolts are 50 yards. Minimum order is 3 yards. Acoustical Solutions: $19.50 per yard 2.) How long did it take to get it in? 3-4 days FedEx 3.) Did you have some kind of brochure to be able to select different colors or textures? http://www.silentsource.com/gom_index.html http://www.acousticalsolutions.com/supp ... fabric.asp Aloha 8)
Aloha, Small update: front side absorber rough frame up - still needs rockwool, back panel, GofM cloth, and respacing of slats  Aloha 8)

Kendale, Beautiful work as always! I have question about the last picture (that actually has nothing with side absorbers). How high are your speakers and how high is your desk? I'm at the stage where I need to build my mixing desk and my concrete pilars for the speakers to sit on. I don't know what a good height for my desk should be. I think a big difference between our two setups is that my "sweet spot" is 7' back from the speakers (85 1/4" to be exact) and you look like you're a lot closer. Also, I was going to build two rack boxes to go on either side of the mixing desk (with the desk sitting on a board between them) but that is going to make it difficult to get around because the room is only 12' wide. Does having all of your equipment off to one side cause reflections off of the front of the equipment or does it matter since the equipment is behind you? len
Hello!! Your studio looks really nice! The absorbers and slots have some really nice work done on them :D ! I wonder, with the slots, have you tuned them in to some specific frequency or is it just general low-mid trapment?? Cheers, Ola
Aloha, Hey, thanks guys  Len: Thanks for asking
How high are your speakers and how high is your desk?
The center of the woofers are at ear level, which for me is 45" off the floor. The shelf for the speakers are 40". The top level of the console is 37 1/2". (The console is by Argosy, whom I'm trusting, knows how tall to build the piece. Depending on what mixer, if any, you will be using, perhaps you could check out their site and see if they build a unit for it and use their dimensions as a starting point. http://www.argosyconsole.com/

My sweet spot is about 5 1/2' back, the usable width of the room is only 8'.
Also, I was going to build two rack boxes to go on either side of the mixing desk (with the desk sitting on a board between them) but that is going to make it difficult to get around because the room is only 12' wide. I'm sure that it does to some extent, but that was the only place I could fit the rack. It does allow making changes to compressor & reverb settings and the like easier, and there really wasn't enough room to get around the sides of it positioned behind me. The side and rear absorbers have really helped tame most of the reflections. Ola: Thanks for stopping in.

Low-mid. One thing nice about having the slats is that it keeps the room from becoming too dead. :D Aloha 8)
aloha! hey kendale, how about the cloud(s)? keep going, it looks fantastic and i'm shure it sounds the same!! greez roman
Aloha roman, Thanks for checking out the thread/s. I am still waiting on my contractor friend to come by. We've talked this week and he's been pretty tied up, so we're planning on maybe next week, sometime? It's okay though, 'cause there's plenty to keep me busy right now and he's doing it as a favor. I'll post pics as soon as it goes up. In the meantime (as part of Len's running joke) I thought I'd post a couple of scenes from the "kendale" Hilton for our friends in Switzerland, Sweden, and Norway. It's currently 82 degrees, mostly sunny with tradewinds 5-10 mph. Aloha 8)

Aloha Kendale, Nice job on the landscaping (presuming you did the work)... that's a lot of retaining wall stones. Looks just like Durascape stones from HD or Lowes. I see you've got more in the back corner, that's a lot of stones to move, not fun but good exercise. Is that St. Augistine Grass, which is the norm hear in Florida... BTW we've had it in the 90's the past few days here... great wheather for my pool side gigs and hunting for easter eggs today Oh Yes Happy Easter everyone. Marc
