I was thinkin the other day about a possible diy construction but this clear out of the blue thought tickled my fancy. The idea Originated when I remembered something I learned about the replacement of a car windshield.
There was this cool tool the guy ( a cordless pump for the tubes of rubber epoxy sealant ) was using as I sat there and watched him put the sealant on the car and then the window in the frame. But anyways back to my cool thought I had. Wouldn't it be cool if you could actually get ahold of one of them guns and the tubes of rubber epoxy sealant. To use in the construction of M-A-M windows.
Of course I do understand that it might not work because the rubber epoxy they use in windshield replacement might not work in studio construction but hey it was at least a thought of a possible way to do it.

Have you seen this thread?
Yeah but looks like its time to read it again.
Without testing results, it's hard to say what an automotive product would do in a studio environment, although they share some common goals (quietness when inside) -
One possible way to mount glass using some of your idea would be to set the glass using spaced high-duro EPDM blocks, then caulk behind, between and around them with Butyl caulk (butyl has high damping characteristics and might improve the glass performance a small amount)
Just a thought... Steve
Well it was just a though but thanks for the tip Steve. I can honestly say without the test data I would be willing to try it and be the ginny pig just to see if it would work. Although I wouldn't even know what kind of data I would be looking for in the end seeing how I'm not a scientist.
Yeah, that's one of the big problems with experiments; unless you have the time, space and money to build something 350 different ways, like the Canadians did in IR-761, you have no real way of knowing whether you did something spectacular or just different... Steve
Plus, it's impossible to guage whether the "experimental" thing was better or worse than doing it the "tried and true" thing. Maybe the "experimental thing" is "very good" but the "tried and true" thing would have been even better.
Well it was a thought and one day I might try and if it doesn't work there is always razor blades and info here on the tried and true way.
 Easy mate, things are never that bad! It's just a studio, get over it. 8)if it doesn't work there is always razor blades
LOL I didnt mean it like I would never do such a thing I have to beautiful children to raise and watch grow up. that I meant it as taking the razor blades to the glass to get the automotive rubber epoxy seal off the pane of glass.
