thank you for answering
but what i am searching for is data about the tl through a solid wall coupled with a gypsum floating wall (box in a box)
curiously you would find a huge amount of data about gypsum/gypsum walls but nothing (or maybe i don't know where to search for it) about what i mean here
could somebody help me to find that ?
this is related to my project:

i also searched on studiotips and found nothing consistent
would you be kind enough to give me a link to somewhere?
i am searching to calculate my studio walls
the exterior walls are 50cm thick made of irregular stones assembled with mortar
(see pic)
i intend to build a wood studded double layer gypsum rockwool damped second wall fixed on a floating concrete slab

50 cm! Off hand I don't you will need anything more for exterior sound isolation. My head comes up with a STC (yes I know) of around 53, and that is with no MAM resonance effects! I will try and dig up that link Andrethe exterior walls are 50cm thick made of irregular stones assembled with mortar (see pic)
hello AVare
thanks for answering
do you think that this 53 STC would be enough or should i add an internal studded gypsum leaf (maybe two or three of them)?
this building is in the country but there could be cars or tractors passing by 2 or 300 m away (i dont mention the air force jets flying from time to time over the place but what could you do against that?)

Quoting Knightfly: ". . . pay more attention to TL at 50 hZ than you do STC - if you design for the lows, the rest will be no problem." (Source) For more info about how STC doesn't tell the whole story, see the "Block walls.....to fill or not to fill?" thread.. . . do you think that this 53 STC would be enough . . .
Sharward gave th good reply. With a solid 50 cm wall, you have a TL around 30-35 at 50Hz. The STC (and Rw) are not usefull for music isoaltion. I was just using that because it is commonly known. You will not need anaything more for outside isolation from what
I can read.
Good luck!
