Hi!
My first post here :)
I currently have a small recording setup in a two room rented annexe. Get by doing a little work that pays for my bills. I now have to vacate and relocate by the weekend. Frantically loking for a suitable place to set up a studio. I would like to do it proper this time. Still dont have enough money, shifting is taking a lot, but id like to start and then add on as and when.
In the two room set that I had, with a brick wall as seperation, i did manage to easily get by doing vocals and most instruments. Even though drums were hard, i have often recorded them too, with reasonable success. Drums leaking into the err... (well) control room would often make making immediate descissions difficult, and i would record and playback to decide on micing and stuff. Still very workable.
In all probability, the new premises would be one large hall, where i would need to throw a partition to devide it into two areas. All i ask as of now is to be able to do this with as little expenditure possible, and enough TL to get by as I was before. A construction to which I could add on later would be of big help.
My minimum current plan is to build a frame of about a 4-6 inch thickness, stuff it with Glasswool, and use the thicker gypsum boards on both sides. A door, and maybe a double glass window. Have this wall sit tight between the floor, ceiling and the opposite walls.
I would also like to be able to save a little money to get some basic acoustic treatment done, and maybe finally get to building a few bass traps and slot resonators. though i still have to locate rigid fiberglass pannels around here.
I am trying to get a place in a quiet commercial area (leading to a steep escalation in cost), this would prevent me from having isolation issues.
all help greatly appreciated. Thank you
Sidhu
New premises

With all that you are asking, and how you are asking it, start by studying the recording manual off the main page.

Hi Sidhu, I moving out from my home studio in Surat next week, Gujarat state as my contract has come to its end.
I can recomend that you find the insulation contractors that working in petrochemical, steel melting or Power generation plants, thats where I got my local made rigid 4" mineral wool. The weight is 90 kg/m3, it is very simular to OC705, but contain a lot of dust and slag. Check with Essar or Reliance, or company such as Petron or Punj loyd if you know about them. I added a shortcut to my Surat studio where you can see the insulation I've made cheap.
