I'm wondering if this would work for me. I currently have my studio in a converted one car garage. Next to the studio is another empty garage. I would like to buy a window or wall ac / heater unit and place it in the empty garage. I would then attach duct work to the front of the unit and use small blower motors in the duct work itself. I need to cool and heat two rooms.
My guess is that this will not work.
Window Air Conditioner venting to adjacent garage ?

I have now read all of those posts.
Last question.
The hot side of the A/C will not be outside. The hot side will be in the adjacent garage but the duct work will be attached and sealed to the front of the A/C. Is this going to pose a problem ?
Dan
Just my 2¢: aside from probably not passing code, I don't think it's a good idea at all to put a condenser (the "hot side") indoors... and I would think that an adjacent garage space counts as "indoors."
Give the ductless/mini-split a long hard look... Although there are drawbacks, it seems like the right fit for your situation. There's not much detail in your post, but from what I have seen anyway.....
Knightfly and others may have other thoughts.
Kieth is right; is there any way you can treat the other garage as in my drawing (link earlier), so that the entire unused garage becomes your "chiller room" ?
Following my drawing, you would get fresh air in and stale air exhausted. Putting the AC unit inside would NOT do this.
As far as I know, no one's Mini Split provides fresh air either; so that problem would still have to be addressed... Steve
I've heard this mentioned before, but I'm not sure what to make of it. Technically, my 4 ton central heating and air conditioning system inside my house does not provide any "fresh air." The air gets sucked into the return, through the system, and out through the ducts into the rooms. There's no actual "freshness" (i.e., air coming in from outside) going on there. My take on the ductless/mini-splits is that they do essentially the same thing as a central system, except there is no ducting and the equipment is smaller. I realize there are some central HVAC systems that do factor in fresh air -- my in-laws have one of these modern systems. I also used to have a "whole house fan" which required my windows to be open in order to work properly -- that was "maximum fresh air." I'm certainly not arguing the need for fresh air; I'm just questioning the logic of a ducted system supposedly providing it vs. a ductless system that does not. Maybe I've missed something, and if so, I look forward to the edification process that will hopefully follow this. ;). . . no one's Mini Split provides fresh air either; so that problem would still have to be addressed . . .
Maybe this would work.

Crap. I hate this stuff sometimes. It is NOT intuitive.
Hey Fitzy-me-boy, no hay sweat-o, gotcha covered; anything else you want outa there, let me know -
LMFAO, man, haven't laughed that much since I scared the crap outa Sharward with a LARGER version of the new Avatar
So, how's the Planer project comin' along??!? Steve
Hahahahaha. Wait till you step on a gator. Well I lucked out Steve. Found a brand new single phase 3hp on ebay. Got it from some company that sells equipment to the Amish in Pennyslvania. They take the motors out and sell them on ebay. What I don't understand is......what the hell do the Amish do to power a big planer? Seems rediculous to use big industrial equipment but then refuse to use motors on religious grounds. Go figure. Anyway, got it brand new for $160. New Baldors were a whopping $700.
Should get it this week. I don't believe I've had that planner for 2 years and just now getting a motor for it. Oh well, thats the cost of living in my little paradise. Hey, that second link was for this.

Damn, I thought the bbs automatically shortens these like HR does. Hmmm......sorry again. Well, no more links for me if this is what it does.
Yeah, Sharward gets it right when entering long links, but I've only managed to get it right maybe ONCE; no time to figure out that crap ATM... Steve
Sooo, was my email explanation clear enough or won't you know til you get the stuff together?
My business card from work claims that I'm a Web Software Developer, hence my tendency to get the URL links to work properly! 8)
Oh, that and the fact that I preview each of my posts before I submit them, and I usually also review them after they're submitted (and edit if needed).
My "secret" is that I basically only "hover" over the buttons (not click them) so that I can see the correct syntax, and then I type the tags manually.
And yes, that wicked avatar of Steve's is prominent in my nightmares of late!
Hello Steve. Yes, it was very clear. And thankyou so much. I seem to have forgot my manners and emailed you a "Thankyou Steve" forgive me. But as a matter of fact, I've been OVERWHELMED with so much work, by the time I sit at the computer, I forget stuff. :roll:Sooo, was my email explanation clear enough or won't you know til you get the stuff together?
Since my business card stays "Dimensional Design and Fabrication", my expertise leaves a lot to be desired when using the buttons here! Hahahaha! I WOULD have previewed it, but I was underthe impression that the bbs shortened the links automatically. When it didn't I tried to delete, but instead ended up posting not just twice, but three times. What a moron. Well, untill I learn how to do it correctly, consider me outta here as far as posting. Again, my apology. Crap, I don't even know what you are referring to as "syntax". "DUH... you mean they can tax me for sinning"? Boy am I in trouble. I can't even pay my income tax! fitZMy "secret" is that I basically only "hover" over the buttons (not click them) so that I can see the correct syntax, and then I type the tags manually.
Instead of http://url
do this
