hi all. i am new around here and have been reading and researching the site for my next studio. good stuff! i wanted to thank john, and everyone for their expertiece and help.
anyway, i have drawn up a plan based on the corner control room setup and was hoping for some feedback to make sure i am on the right track. i am on a mac so i drew the diagram freehand (lord help us all) so it might be a bit hard to read.
we are building a new garage (outside dimensions are 36ft. X 24ft.). the studio is going to be completely free floating in within the 24 x 24 area. the plan at the moment is to float the floor and build the frame of a new floor on it, so all cables can be run under the flooring and to appropriate areas of the studio. the ceilings are going to be 9 ft. from ceiling to the concrete (so with the new floor it will be closer to 8 1/2ft.). let me know if you need anymore info.
any feedback would be appreciated. thanks for this great forum!

just an idea could you incorporate more of the space into the studio? whats the ceiling height?
thanks for the reply.
the ceiling height will be 8 1/2 feet. my intial plan is to have seperate rooms to track in. i really want to have a vocal booth....and i figured that the guitar room and drum rooms wouldn't require much more work (since i am building from the ground up. i will be spending most of my time in the control room which is why it is the largest room...the last thing i'd want is for it to feel cramped.
btw, i am working on a better picture of the studio. i hope to have it up today or tomorrow.
Hi John!
I came out with a similar idea to devide my (nearly) square room:

I didn't plan a vocal both, because I want to use the rooms for rehearsals with my band as well.
cheers
