I just called the ready mix place -- my contractor confirmed the order and they're rolling earlier than expected -- 45 minutes to an hour from now, I'm going to have a big ass concrete truck in front of my house!!!

Congrats on the Concrete!!!!
Great slide show, I can believe how many pics your taking, even pics of the work trucks of your contractors
Marc
Looking good Keith!
Maybe you can just set up your drums now on this slab, and see how it works ... you know, kind of like a super drum riser
Ha! No, that would just piss off the neighbors... They're dealing with enough construction noise inconvenience these days... Why agitate them more than necessary?
Lookin' Good!!!
Very cool; now aren't you glad we nagged you about beefing up your forms? (Not that you'd know if it was overkill, but trust me, it wasnt...)
Way to go Keithers... Steve
Steve, your nagging is always welcomed! 8)
I had hoped to have more progress to share, but beyond a few stakes and horizontal supports being removed (which are not really Kodak moments ;-)), there's not much to report.
Other than I'm walking on my slab now, and that's a great feeling!!
In other news, one of our six kitties sustained (our eldest) managed to get into a scuffle with one of our other cats. What was a tiny little sore on her back ended up getting majorly infected and developed into a severe abscess that required surgery. She's been in and out of the veterinary clinic for two overnight stays and we're now dealing with the joys of irrigating the infected area. It's a lot of work, but Sera (the cat) is being so great about it.
Her condition has improved tremendously over the past five days. We're hoping she's nearly fully recovered by the time we go to Hawaii next Wednesday. (Did I mention we're going to Hawaii next Wednesday? ;-))
If you feel like getting grossed out, here are pictures of Sera with a surgical tube inside of her. (The tube was removed yesterday, BTW.)

Aloha Keith,
Sorry to hear about your kitty kat's scuffle & injuries. Hope she's recovering well. Our girl Snickers went through a similar scuffle years ago with the neighbors' dogs, and it was traumatic for both her and us.
As for the travel plans, hope you and your family have a great trip!
Aloha 8)
Keith,
Have you packed power tools for a stay at the "Kendale Hilton?"

Mahalo, Kendale. :) Sera's doing oustandingly well this morning -- the irrigation ritual went really well. It's obvious that the additional antibiotic she is on is really working, and she's tolerating it very well too. 8)
Len, unfortunately the Kendale Hilton is on a different island... Besides, we already have complimentary accommodations! 8) 8) We're making this trip with Mrs. Sharward's folks who received a week's free stay at a condo owned by a business associate of theirs. We depart six days from now.
I'll probably bring my laptop along and may post some piccies. :)

sorry to hear about your cat.
i was involved in a "scuffle" between one of my dogs (back when i HAD dogs) and a neighbor's Akita, I watched helplessly as that big dog took a big bite out of my little dog's rump. I'll never forget that image ... the neigbors were cool though and paid for the whole thing.
have fun in HI
Aloha,
 :) :) :D :D :D       You guys are too much  Aloha 8)Keith, Have you packed power tools for a stay at the "Kendale Hilton?"
Thanks for the sympathies, Dan (et al). I'm pleased to report that our lil' Sera is doing really well. The second antibiotic that she's on seems to be helping a lot, and yours truly is doing a great job keeping things clean. 8)
The cat issue has gotten in the way of my making progress, and it's obvioius to me that I won't have my L-shaped footing poured before we go to Maui on Wednesday. But, that's OK -- as I've said numerous times, it'll get done when it gets done. 8)
This attitude has been essential in retaining a proper level of sanity!! :D
Anyway, I have a bit of progress to report. I spent a few hours today pulling stakes and (ta-da!!) finally pulling off one of the forms! Ugh, pulling those stakes is a pain in the rear!! The steel ones come out much easier and they aren't subject to breakage like the wooden ones are... I broke three wooden ones so far and I managed to get two of those broken stakes out of the ground. One however is buried for good, probably about 18" worth. Broken stakes in the ground = termite food.
I can't recommend the steel stakes enough. They're a lot more expensive, but they're so much easier to install and remove, plus they're stronger and reusable.
As I've progressed I've figured out clever ways to make removal of the stakes easier. In nearly all cases I am fashioning levers with a steel stake so that I can more easily yank the stake out.
The one visible edge of the slab looks pretty good, though there is a bit of an air pocket in one area. Overall, not bad. I'm still very pleased with the work my guy did.
--Keith
Our kitty has been admitted to the vet hospital again. Our follow-up appointment didn't go so well... Ends up she has a good amount of diseased skin that will have to be removed. Fortunately the skin is in an area where there's a lot of loose skin that can be stretched to cover the area. This means she's having another surgery tomorrow and will be boarded at the vet during our Hawaiian vacation. :(
I'm not happy about this, but I am relieved that we figured all this out before going out of town.
Good grief -- my thread slipped to page two! Horror of horrors! We must not let that happen again!
Anyway, we're heading home from Maui tomorrow... What a wonderful vacation we have had.
I took dozens of photos that I have yet to organize, but I'll post these two... One of a sunset in Wailea over the Four Seasons, and the other from the luau in Lahaina.
Aloha!! 8)
