Thanks Pal!
There's a reason I've been mentally blocking the electronic side of things(including cabling). Its always a can-o-worms!.... Just took a serious deep look at DAW mix controllers, cause I'm going to be mixing in the box for now. I thought I had one picked out, only to find that it and every other option out there is riddled with bugs and issues..I dropped back and punted by sticking with what I currently have, cause its reliable and it works.
I fear I'm getting on Stuart's nerves with this nonsense as well...... :ahh:

I'm sure Stuart will tell you in no uncertain terms if that should ever become the case  .
Sorry for the delay all! Cable testing ran all weekend....Wah, waahhhh.
Think I sorted it though. So, work will definitely recommence this week...
Popping holes in walls today. Progress marches on!
In the meantime here is a simple track I made to stress my cables. And maybe I had some fun while I was at it....Maybe!!! I added as much processing and i/o as I could and nothing blew up soooo.....Awesome!!! :yahoo:
No mixing or mastering to speak of, so its a rough mix. Just something to pass the time instead of biting your nails...

Neat! I like it.
Strange name for a song, though.... 8)
Time to stress some clouds, next! :)

well,
Thought I had it, then I didn't! Some of the cables are a few feet too short.....Gonna have to wait for couplers and extensions to show up on Friday then test it all again...Testing won't take long once they get here at least. I hope it works....
Thank god the Thunderbolt was long enough...That would have been a show stopper!
Test fitting the center cloud frame while I wait for the cable extensions....
Cool! Did you build it exactly to the dimensions in the model? It looks a bit off... Probably just an optical illusion from the camera angle. Don't forget that, because it will be hung at an angle, you can't just put it up flat against the ceiling and build the framing to match the soffits like that.... the angles of the framing pieces change greatly when you tilt the cloud to the correct angle....
Just sayin' . . .
- Stuart -
I did build it to model specs. Just wsnted to reference the soffit sngles. Not sure what looks off to you in the picture.
Hey all,
Got sick, which stalled me out this week. Back on the case! Progress pics in a couple of days...
Just so you know I'm still alive and working....I hate trim!!!! looking good though.
Looking good, Frank!
- Stuart -
Alright the trim is done and we are on the cloud!...That should go quick compared to the dreaded trim..
I hate trim !!!!! no fun...
Stuart, in case I have trouble finding carpet scraps, did you say I could use layers of cloth?
It's looking pretty amazing, Frank! Great work!
And the latest REW data is looking nice too... If I have time later today or tomorrow, I'll try to post some graphs, to show how we are doing, then we can compare that with the new graphs after the cloud is up. Then add the subs, and start tweaking those, while you build the desk!
The end is in sight! Getting close now...

Hi Stuart,
The back line of the cloud is going to be more like 2" from the ceiling as opposed to 1 3/8"... Can't imagine it will make much of a difference.
No problem! That's fine. - Stuart -The back line of the cloud is going to be more like 2" from the ceiling as opposed to 1 3/8"... Can't imagine it will make much of a difference.
Almost done with the placement....just need to set the front anchors. This is bar far the hardest part....the rest will be cake in comparison. Its impossible for me to get a perfect pic with no weird looking angles but it looks good to the naked eye.
Also Here is a pic of the carpet remnant I got Stuart. Might as well make sure you aprove...
Is it breathable? It looks like it isn't.... It needs to be breathable. "Breathable" meaning that if you hold it over your mouth, you can breath through it with little extra effort.
- Stuart -
it's marginal, but it'll work.
It seems to have that rubbery backing on it, that is rather common these days. That stuff typically increases the gas flow resistivity greatly. But as long as you can breath through it comfortably, without straining, it's probably OK.

:horse:
Close enough. I did them in metric sizes, IIRC, but your imperial sizes are fine. - Stuart -The holes in the center module. Are they 3.5" and 4.375" ? I need to know what they are.
Got the final placement of the framing done. A couple of sticks to throw in on the ground still, then the hard back and the light bay. The sides do fan out a bit over the doors, but I made them look symmetrical. I'm going to have LED back lighting around the perimeter above the cloud. Should look really cool....
Hi Stuart,
sent you an email....
