I'm designing a desk for my mixing-room
Edit: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=18383
It's for
- 61key midi keyboard (I have 49key now), on a desk-drawer.
- 2x2U rack-space
- One graphic monitor on bridge
Pc-bord_front.pngPc-bord_side_wire.pngThere will be a few minor corrections to this,
but I believe it's approximately good.
Attached sketchup-file.
Basic materials
Glued pine: 2400 x 600 x 18 (and maybe 1000 x 200 x 18) for the legs
Glued Oak: 1500 x 300 x 18 for the desk and top
Maybe I'll use some standard wood for the fastening under the desk
Question: Do you believe the design is strong enough?
I would prefer the monitor-bridge to be a little lower,
but when adding space for midi-keyboard, my legs and 2Urack, this was as low I could get.
Same, I would prefer desk for pc-keyboard a little lower.
Any important considerations I should do?
I'll use Kraig Pocket hole tool for joining the parts (especially the desk-top that I plan use 2 pieces of oak for)
Some unknown factors:
- The width of the midi-keyboard desk fastening (15mm)
- I'm not quite sure about the lenght of the fastening either. Could be 400mm. Then I have to make some adjustments.
I can choose between a 400/800mm (closed/open) that supports 50kg,
or a 246/??mm that supports 10kg

Hm..
Check:
- I'll have to double-check width of rack-space
Checked space on bridge for 2x nearfields + Lcd
Lcd: 51cm
Rookit5: 2 x 29cm (maybe they'll go on stands, or not be used, bu anyway..)
Angled monitor: 2 x 6cm
Extra: 2 x 2cm
Sum: 105cm
So, my width is fine :)
