To help clarify, here's the same design as the previous post except the full height of the ceiling is shown. Any reason why I can't make the new iso (upper left corner) short like this? I'm trying to minimize volumetric impact on the main room.
New Studio in CA - Questions

I just realized that the new iso shown in the upper left of the screenshots that I most recently uploaded is too symmetrical. Attached are two other variants that could be interesting.
"Screen shot 2011-07-05 at 1.38.32 AM.png" is the one i would go with. the corner by the back booth can get a super chunk absorber as can the other corners. the slope on the front of the CR is good and on the back slope you want enough absorption to get the reflections down. trap on the peak of the room - using a cloud angled over the desk and a super chunk like absorption in the peak.
I would look into either modifications at the points in the updated graphic, or eliminating the intention all together with. To construct a double framed assembly and then only include one door is defeating your purpose...and having the door in the bottom righthand side of the picture swing into the double wall...that's gonna be a challenge to make it work right.
Thanks for both of your input! I'm still looking to hire a consultant for 10 hours or so if ya'll know anyone that would be interested. I want to find somebody that with years of studio design experience that I can call to get quick feedback on things. Don't get me wrong, this forum is freakin' amazing...I just want to have someone involved in the project that's being paid so I can ask them tons of questions without feeling like I'm burdening them. Any ideas?
You can pay John or Glenn or myself...
i think the key part of the isolation booth/air lock is that you have those walls separate and therefore decoupled. in the diagram it looks like the CR wall extends to form a portion of that air lock whereas you would want the wall to end (join) with the inner wall, and the inner booth walls are separated.
Like Glenn said...pick our brains all you want...we'll make more ;)
