If designing a basement type studio, are there benefits to leaving the floors concrete?
I have seen posts and builds here on the site that have a concrete floor and I am wondering what the pros/cons are of it.
To Concrete or not to Concrete.... That is the question.

Yup! Many. For isolation: concrete is great (lots of mass, very rigid), and if it is laid on the ground underneath, then the entire planet is your damper! Hard to do better than that! For acoustics: concrete is great! Hard surface, very reflective across the entire spectrum. Just what you want. "Hard floor, soft ceiling" is kind of a mantra around here. You should chant it at least 100 times per day... :) Aesthetically: not so great. It ain't pretty in its natural state! But you can make it pretty in various creative ways, by staining. Or if you really hate it, then you can always lay laminate flooring on top of it, which is also great acoustically. - Stuart -If designing a basement type studio, are there benefits to leaving the floors concrete?
Great, thanks for the clarification.
I remember reading this design viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10533&start=30 and thinking how great those floors looked.
