Glen ... Thanks, i think the design is done and will start to put it on the floor with paint tape ... It´s kind off hard to read all the details especially wich materials go where... the WIDE SLATS are covered with cloth ? Do we had them before, they sound new to me ... Is it possible to "paint" the SKP file putting the finishing touches on it ? Where the wood is going, the pink fiberglass, the gyspsum board and the cloth ? Like we had on the other studio ... That way i would take the file, unmounted piece by piece and understand exactly which piece goes where, the exact measures so we dont miss a thing on construction. I would take piece by piece, put the measurements and print it out for the person who´s going to assemble it ... But to start we can already mark the floor with the tape. If it´s possible, that would be a great help, especially has im not the one to be there ... Best Regards Djo
the wide slats go over the cloth like regular slats except its primary role is to keep from HF alive off the face of an absorbptive backing. if you want to go with a slat resonator and use wide slots you could go there as well. in the way you assembled the last studio - rigid insulation for absorption treatment, hangers, clouds, etc. pink stuff between isolation wall studs and big areas needing insulation. for measuring, the actual parts - use normal framing rules except decouple the frames and drywall and seal everything where you need to create isolation. for slat resonators - make sure the cavity is sealed. then add the cloth and then the slats.
Man, sometimes i wonder if i really understand english !! Because i could not undestand the majority off your instructions ... Maybe with pictures off other studios ilustrating so i can understand ... 1. " the wide slats go over the cloth like regular slats " --- wide slats ? regular slats ? 2. " slat resonator and use wide slots " --- slat resonator = the horizontal woods we have from the other studio, that came after the clooth . wide slots ? 3. " use normal framing rules except decouple the frames " - - - normal framing rules ? decouple the frames ? Well, the reallity is that it´s still hard to visualize it, but will try our best ... Best Regards Djo
c'mon! you built your last studio! slats - the wood strips - 25mm, 50mm, 100mm slots - those gaps between the wood strips  widely spaced = 1-3" (25mm - 75mm or more) apart regular spaced = 3mm, 5mm, 10mm spacing normal framing - 2x4 or 2x6 lumber with a bottom runner (plate) and one or two top runners (plates) with the vertical common studs spaced 16 or 24" (400mm or 600mm) apart. decoupled - use some form of foam/rubber/padding to keep the frame from hard contact on the exterior cement walls or ceiling, or floor. overall the goal is to use as many normal techniques for framing and construction as possible with the caveat that decoupling it good, angles are good, caulking is good, etc etc. same stuff we discuss here over and over again...
Yes, Glen, you can call me the OLD GUY !! :) By nature, i have the worst memory ever ... It´s 4 years now since that "journey" and i have been quite off the studio life ... So, it´s been a long time ... Well, let us start this new one ... THANKS !! Djo
Hi Glenn. First let me introduce myself. My name is Afra Matavele, a young girl working at GPRO since 2009. Since Djo decided to leave the Gxtudio, im now in charge and responsible to build this new one. Djo is working in a different area now so he doesn't have much time to help us on this, so i hope you can help me building "my" first studio. We just started the work last week, because all this time we were solving some problems that we found in the room where we building the studio. Well, as you can see in the pictures, we were doing what you sent us in the last project that Djo approved, but we've realized that we will spend a lot of money buying new stuff when we want to reuse the stuff we have and buy a new things as little as possible, because our budget is very low. So, I have my first questions for you. 1. Can we start building the studio directly from the room wall, forgetting the drywall, i dont know if its the correct term, but im talking about the boards that we use before the insulation. Our suggestion is to push the control room to the right and increase the booth measures, so that we can keep the symmetry of the room. U can also see in the pictures, what im trying to explain. 2. Can you explain to me what are the wide slats? Can we eliminate them and use another alternative? it's all for now. Hope that, if possible, you can give us your opinion. kind regards.

you could leverage the existing walls as much as possible and thus you're really only treating the space - the exception is the isolation booth is actually surrounded by mass and separated from the CR with a single wall - thus reducing the materials there. the side wall slats are for the RFZ treatment. on the back wall the widely space slats are simply to preserve some of the HF in the space but you could either make it wholly absorptive or use heavier wood pieces you might have left.
Hi Glenn ... Hope everything is alright with you ... Afra is a young girl full off energy to work and learn. She is in charge off the studio right now and will take it from here. It´s a young team that will make this happen. I would like to thank you in advance for the support ... Best Regards Djo
Thank you Djo. Hi Glenn. As you can imagine i dont understand some terms that you guys use here, i've been reading some other posts to get more familiar with the issue, but I really can't always understand them. So, analyzing most of the projects questions and answers, I noticed that they are easily resolved when there are clear images of what should be done. So im sure that if we had the finished project it would be easier for us to understand what we have to put in each wall or find alternatives ways for some difficulties that we would face. The last project you sent us, it helped a lot doing the draw on the floor and understanding the measures, but when it comes to differentiate the materials its not very clear and it gets us stuck at the same point. is there any possibility that you can send us the finished project in the same way that is the project in attached photo? thank you for your precious attention, we are waiting for your opinion. Kind Regards.

i'll recheck and make sure the materials are labeled.
Hi Glenn Thanks a lot for your willingness to help. We will be waiting for your answer. have a nice day. Kind Regards
Hi Glen. Hello Glen. First, I would like to apologize for not kept you tracked of the progress of our studio. We had some problems, we stopped for some time, however we are back and practically in the end of the work (apparently the hardest part:)). In attach im sending the work stages pictures. regards
