even if you don't soffit mount the speakers you will need some trapping in the corners and front wall. i forgot you are using ACAD. I'll export the file as dxf.
New home studio design ...need any suggestion. thanx

Thanx a lot Glenn....I've just downl it...
Yes I'll put inside the front framed wall all treatment to make it reflective, the other wall behind the desk will be absorptive. I've read that this is the right way for CR.
Thanx again and I'll put some new ideas and pics ASAP.
Bye

Hi guys, here are some pics....as you will see I'm so far away from Glenn's final project but step by step I will realize my dream.... :yahoo:This will be the C.R. as you see I've to close the window with the red cross cause I don't need it in this new Glenn version
Here is the rear of the C.R. with the window that will remain as you see in the project.
Next is a global view of the stairs that one day will be.....and the space where will be the box vox.
Here is the front of the CR where will be the monitors, LCD monitor, the desk exc...
Next is the back of the C.R. with the window....one day here you will see the couch...
Next pics on the next reply...i've reached the maximun level..... :cop:
...ok...now I can proceed....
..come back in the live room...here you see the vision from the point maybe in the half of the room..
Now a global view of half of all my space...
At last....the other half ....
Ok...I've ended....I have so much job to do...but with Your help will be a pleasure!!!
Thanx to all and in special way to Glenn for his particular support....if everyone of You have some suggestions let me know!!
See you!!
Ale
Hi guys...I've read in theese days a lot of about HVAC ventilation and conditioning.....as You can see on the project of my studio I'll have one window in the CR and one in the live room. Inside each room I'll mount a fancoil for heating and cooling but I should avoid the HVAC system for the air exchance, instead of that I would use the two windows.
This way I'll avoid a lot of work and a serious danger to 'lead' sound between rooms exc....
In your experience I'll have problems using win to take in fresh air??
Obviously when the win will be close will be covered with something like this for acoustic treatment
you could ventilate and cool off the stair area and do an air exchange from there with each room via baffle boxes. this would prevent the sound from leaking across rooms and give you a consistent air exchange (which if you're going through all this work) rather than risk issues with trying to open and close windows on a regular basis - wear on the seals, the isolation will probably be low to accommodate the movable windows, and CO2 can rise very quickly.
Thanx Glenn I'll think about it also because the studio is all at underground floor and I have an interspace of about 60 cm all around the external perimeter so I should put the air pipe for air exchange in this space (to avoid insert them on ceiling) and enter on each room (live and control) from the outside. This way the job should be less difficult. Next days I'll put a picture of your project with the addition of the vocal box so you have the right idea of all the space available.
Thanx again, bye

Hi guys, last days I've had an idea that I think is not bad.....cause, as You see on the pics, the works are at the very beginning...I'm putting down plumbing and wiring and after that the cement screed.....
I've thougt to separate the screed to delineate the different areas (CR, LR, Vox box)..in this way I can isolate each other and I'll avoid to build a floating floor that is difficult and expensive and in this way I preserve the entire height of my undergroud space, that will be (with the screed) 3,20 mt.
The wall that You see on the pics is the only wall that is just built, and divide the stair and the central heat an a part of a live room. Soon I'll write all the wall.
I've attached a screen of my SU design and the SU file, I'm working with it now and day by day I'll upload new version.....All project i based on the last Glenn's idea that I believe work right for my studio...
Bye and see soon.

Hi guys I'm starting to draw frame in SU....I'm wondering if are there a specific measures for the wooden boards and the distance between them?
I've attached also a SU file updated...bye
Ale
in general, the wall studs will be placed on 24" (600mm) on-center. blocking between studs is common to increase rigidity and transfer load between studs and support insulation. using 1 or 2 top plates will be determined by number of layers of drywall and/or support for an isolation ceiling. the joists in the isolation ceiling will also run 24" (600mm) on-center if it supports the load intended. determining the stud and joist size are based on code, load, and space considerations.
Thanx Glenn You're ever perfect in your answers.....
I have to take a distance from external wall? I've seen on your project that the framed wall is about 2 cm distanced from external wall and not on it.
Do you have taken a look on my SU file?
Thanx bye
I haven't yet looked at the SU file but will. I usually leave at least 25mm gap between exterior walls and inner frames. More if both walls are block or concrete. If both walls are frame this would leave (on a 100mm frame) about 225mm air space.
Hi Glenn, the wall from live room side is i block and is 20 cm depth, after will be a 10 cm space of air that will separate the CR from the LR, this space will be phisical separate in the cement screed as You see on the pic, so I think I'll avoid the sound transmission by floor.
what is under that section of concrete? is that just earth or another concrete layer? if its earth (and requisite fill) then you also want to make sure the edges of it are separated and if the gaps are small, then resilient rubber fill to keep them decoupled and sealed. if its on another concrete layer you want to decouple from that layer as well as the edges.
Hi Glenn under there is another concrete layer covered by waterproof membrane as You can see on my previous pics. I think this idea may work, separete a new concrete layer as I explained before as the SU pic
so you should decoupled the new concrete pad from the existing one - springs, neoprene, rigid insulation, etc to allow the concrete to float based on the expected total load (inner room ceiling etc weight included). this will make your investment much more effective.
Hi Glenn, I've read something about that....is certainly the best isolation concept but is much expensive form my budget so I have to be content of a 'compromise'....
Hi Glenn, here are some pics of my space based on your design...do You thing the angles of the framed wall work good even if the monitors are stand as You can see? (the angles are taken from you original project).
Do You have any correction about my gear placement or do You think it's work? Thanx again Bye
Here You can find the complete SU file http://mio.discoremoto.alice.it/greenstudio file is named SU.rar
nice! yes, the angles are good even if you are using stands because it exposes more surface there plus you can do a combination of hard and soft absorption there and hide it with the cloth. the corners can be used for serious bass trapping. on the side wall with the window - are you going to angle the CR side window?
If you refer to the glass I think to use one glass CR side parallel at the framed wall as in pic, and another one live room side parallel to the framed wall of the live room. I think this way I'll not have unwanted reflection....If you mean that with your question... Sorry but I don't undestand all clearly...cause my bad english... :horse:
Between the live room wall and the CR wall will be tha air space of 10 cm as mentioned in the previous post. Bye
The win should be as SU pic....do You think is not correct?are you going to angle the CR side window?
yes, the window on your left (sitting at the desk) should be angled.
I'm sorry Glenn but I don't understand what you mean......the window is not just angled?!?!
The glass is parallel to the angled framed wall in the CR side while in the live room side the glass will be parallel at the framed wall in the live room, and the 2 glasses this way will have a different angle and will not be parallel.
This is not the right way?
thanx...
it looks angled to me...
Hi guys...I'm wondering how to make the difference in the framed wall between reflective and absorber wall.
I know that the wall in front of the desk should be total reflectve and the wall int the back of the desk should be total absorbent.....this difference will depend of the interior insulate of the framed wall? I mean difference material used when filled the framed wall or there is anothe way to do that...?!?!?
Thanx
