Hi!
I have a 3m X 6m space for recording and mixing. I´ll be installing basstraps in all corners and was wondering if it´s possible to use the space behind a panel basstrap for storing micstands etc, maybe install some shelfs behind them. Would this affect the performance of the basstraps?
Also, If I install superchunk traps on one end of the room and paneltraps on the other, does it matter which ones are behind my monitors?
(listening position at 1/3 the room)
And one more thing: are there specifications for the size of corner basstraps for specific rooms?
Corner Panel Basstrap "Closets" ?

Anyone? Haven´t found anything for or against this.. My own guess would be that it does´t matter if there are objects inside the basstrap cavity, but just to be sure, Im asking if anyone has done this, and what would you suggest for building them?
I look towards the word "bass" to make a decision on how I would use this.
The fact that you have to have so much mass to have even a little bit of control over the low frequency tells me that you wouldn't want to place anything that can rattle BEHIND that.
Your mileage might vary...but I doubt it. :)
I see.. Maybe I should be speaking of Broadband Absorbers instead of Basstarps here, by the way, (these terms seem to overlap quite a bit) something like these:

These don´t have very much mass on them... I plan to make mine at least 2 x thicker, all the way from floor to ceiling, so if something rattles a bit inside them it should not be audible. Drumstands and micstands are the priority here, and I´d imagine they wont rattle very easily.
My other question was about the placement of panelabsorbers vs. superchunks.. Is better bassabsorption (superchunks), more affective directly behind my nearfields or at the back corners?
