i call my seniors of this forum "sound gods".its very great for me.
ok .i have shifted my plans and planning to build stuido in my home town(own house) .after gaining knowledge here in this forum(seeing studio construction pics).i have lots of space there.
my basic questions here..
I little bit understand sound isolation and other sound absorption..both are different. defenitly needed for mic recordings(vocals ,flurtes,tablas)etc...
2.this question is for my control room....
i have a big room(previously built for mediation room) for my control room made of ordinary house brick wall(gazed) of thickness 26 cm.
room dimensions are
20ft(l)x20ft(b)x10ft(h) -(celing flat)
1.Is sound isolation needed (usual drywall construction studs with glass wool insulation -stc rating ) ?
2.I WILL MONITOR BASS ALSO.
THE BULIDING IS FAR BEYOND THE CITY .there is occupancy of other houses 30 meters away ..is there a necessary to build room within room so as to stop going sound to neigbours?
3. (vocal booth stays very safe with isolation situated at the side of the control room)
for my conditions is my control room needs isolation ?
4.other question....
can i put sound absorbing materials directly on the walls ...corner for bass ..ceiling ...etc.?
since i do not bulid room within room for my control room..will it affect the room aquostics for my speaker monitoring for my mixes?
please clarify this.. after this clarification i will plan my control room model. thanks....anybody pls comment also..
I call my seniors of this forum as sound "gods"-new question

1. Only you can answer that question. If your neighbours are far away, maybe you still need further isolation: Do you have traffic near you? Storms? Dogs barking? Do you live near a gunshop? Airport? Still, you miss a lot of information
2. Same as above.
3.- I guess a tabla is going to make some noise, or even a bass amp. You need isolation from your booth into the control room and vice versa
4.-Yes, if you wont build Room in a room, you still need to treat your control room
ok dear sir..
75% doubt cleared.there is no traffic,no airport, dogs are there.
ok sir.i will isolate recording room from control room and also treat the recording room for my mic recordings.
1.only one doubt sir..can i put absorbing materials directly on the present control room since iam not going to build room in room for control room.
thank u.
Yes, of course you can
thanks for your advice sir.
i will sketch the control room plan and i will reply u.and i will be back sir.thank "sound god"
thank u.
Please read the stickies and fill in your profile (to start with)
Have a blast!
thanks for reply
this is regarding studio monitors..for my control room -4000cu ft.
what kind of monitors can i use so sas to get good cinema mixes?.
is the size & watts of the monitor makes difference in mixing songs
can i go for small ones of low watts or big ones like morethan 200(watts).is iam on rigth way?
pl clarify
Hi krishna
this is the kind of construction you should be looking at.
thanks john.its great
i get inspired more.got the idea
you have designed close to my plan ,look like 80%.but again i have given some more details.in the lay out.
previously i have not given enough details.now
there is only two doors . no wide space for glasss window .otherwise for a big viewing glass window, i have to break the walls is it not or anyother way?
because there is wall around i have shown in new lay out.
this is the area iam looking for to keep the plan.

krishna,
The largest issue with your personal design is that you are making square rooms. A square floor plan has all walls with the same length dimension, E.G. 20 feet in length and 20 feet in width.
Control room, check, it's square.
Vocal booth, check, it is also square.
I can only assume that this is news to you, but a square set of boundary measurements is not considered a good starting place for any acoustic room.
Which is a real good reason for accepting what John has drawn for you, gratis, and running with it!
He knows where you are going on this trip that you are still wondering which foot to set down first ;)
Krishna - your plan is not to scale - here is the plan again but in the correct scale
Recovered file: krishnamohan_2.skp
ys thanks john. this plan is accurate i was thinking last night.not to break walls.!!!
but i will try to scale it correctly and reproduce it. :yahoo:
since by dimensions are little bit square 20x ftx 20ft x10 ft
this plan seems quite with dimensions (not square).but i have to scale the dimensions .ok
some questions
1.my room heigth is 10ft(flat-ceiling ) .if sure i want to build
angled ceilng (like one fron your example plans). ??
2.i have room mode calculator xls and also slat resonator calc.download from your site.
how to take the average room dimensions to calculate room modes...so as to build slat resonator to absorb low frequency
ranges in the control room.?
thnk u

ya ,sir...i will defenitley build vocal booth not as square(i will build room in room as good ratios) .for i would see the other plans here in this forum.anyway iam starting the trip here.with your hepls i may reach the destination. how can i take good room ratios for control room for this building(for roomsketch)?krishna, The largest issue with your personal design is that you are making square rooms. Krishna - your last model is 12' x 14' - please start with the correct scale.
