I'm James Smith from Baton Rouge, till pecking away at my studio build here: viewtopic.php?t=10633 Here's my floor plan adapted from one of John's designs. The ceilings/walls are 9', will be 2 layers of 5/8 gyp board w/green glue. Room within a room construction. Floors will be wood laminate. Acoustic cloud above the mix position. Mackie HR824's and Alesis M1 near field monitors, no soffit mounting need at the moment. I was hoping a knowledgable Sketchup master out there could take a look at this, and suggest some control room treatment ideas. I'm doing most of this myself, which is why it's taking so long!!! I'd also welcome treatment ideas for the Live Room, and Vocal Booth. Thanks, James

James - perhaps you could consider a variation on this design for your space.

Hi John....Wished I'd seen that earlier!!! My walls are framed already! I'm doing wiring and A/C silencers currently. Posting new pics today at my build link above. Could you take a look at what I have amd make a suggestion?
I guess the other part of the equation John, was my available footprint for this build was 20' x 26', not the 24' x 24' you have drawn above. I envision my primary work being "Live" recordings, then coming back to the studio for over dubs of instruments and vocals, so I wanted a "comfortable" sized vocal booth.
Any ideas where I might go for treatment suggestions?
Interesting.....Thanks X!
Id go for a live room sound. meaning make some slot walls and just a few absorbers. For the vocal booth. make it dry sounding. You want dry sounding vocals
