(really don't have a clue what you're saying... aargh, I'm goin' slightly bazurk)
Ok - Edit by Me -:
Fair enough, I'm stuck in bed with horrible flu! The reason this thread was convoluted was I was trying to explain to Richard locally here in Sydney just how the planning laws have changed, we have had a despot politician named "Frank Sartor" who basically threw out all planning laws and re-wrote the book on Sydney to fit another 3 million people into the City corridors. basically he flipped the laws.
I was also explaining to Richard how now with a "Production facility/Company" you do not need such D.A planning as in the USA or Australia when building a "Private Studio", commercial facilities are different. I was also explaining how to address a D.A in local slang & that also it is better to build before he deals with new neighbours, where to find the info on CSR building supplies here in Australia - (This is a great basic guide for people to learn their Brick and inner 1, 2, & 3 leaf designs and what is possible, some great Info, though all on OZ product, it's a massive Red book guide PDF file & others whom find Maths hard may deal with this guide in a better way.)
I will try to link it for all in the Materials section as its a 1,2,3 step process and great easy learning.
The Acoustic Material Richard is using is new and he was made to sign a NDA which muddies waters, though in terms of "building supplies" locally I was speaking in "Local Tongue" as Richard does not wish to give to much away.
These jokes about being a Secret Acoustic squirrel where just simply as there are really no acoustic secrets left, these days, they seem to leak like a sieve.
There was a great deal of local discussion in the posts, though as Richard now has basically what he asked for. The Aim of building close in a residential scenario with High SPL's not disturbing others I feel is achievable if Richard builds in a certain fashion.
So, I will apologise to Ro ..... (Apologies Ro - Some of this post was answered with PM's in context), No sleep, high Temp, Cough, hot then Cold, feel like every bone aches and no awaiting blood test yada... yada
I may be a Pig, though let's hope I don't have swine flu. Apologies to JLS members. Perhaps non disclosure posts are not the best posts to sink your teeth into. Apologies Richard.
Edit -ADDA
Hey, Adda, I'm not sure what the problem us, but I don't think Ro deserved that at all! To me, it seems that he was making a humorous comment on your writing style, which I have to agree with: You really are hard to follow sometimes! Your incomplete sentences, dotted with unintelligible slang, and wildly wandering grammatical structures, sure does make it tough to figure out what you are trying to say!
And then you have to consider that English isn't even Ro's home language: I'd like to see how well you'd do trying to understand his posts, if suddenly started posting in meandering incomplete Dutch street slang... :) Or how well you'd do if Javier and I started waffling in incomprehensible Chilean street Spanish... :!:
Anyway, I wanted to point out that your outburst seems rather uncalled for.

Hi Stuart
Wow, that is priceless information! I suspected my figures were "a bit off". :-)
[Although I wonder how loud the simian 'Tap drummer is when s/he explodes?]
ADDA - thanks for the links!!
Now for some more reading.
Thanks again everyone. Hijack away.
Richard
OK, Adda. Understood. Cool by me.
Oh yeah! I know ALL about that!!! Been there, done that... And still recovering. That's why I've been off the forum for the past couple of weeks. First a trip to Brazil for an installation, then the whole family comes down with the jolly old swine flu! Fun it ain't. I sure wasn't in the mood for posting much. So I understand you perfectly, Adda, and I hope you are getting good treatment. At least the government is giving away Tamiflu here to everyone who gets the swine flu, and it sure does help, but the whole things still isn't pleasant, I can tell you. My treatment course finished several days ago, but I still have the cough and general blues. (Just telling you so that you'll know what to expect for next week, if it is the swine flue that you have, and it sounds like you do! :) ) All I can do is wish you the best with that. - Stuart -No sleep, high Temp, Cough, hot then Cold, feel like every bone aches and no awaiting blood test yada... yada ... I may be a Pig, though let's hope I don't have swine flu.

Doctor & Bloods needles make me pass out. I faint
At least My newsagent will throw my stuff over my fence (cool guy - extra half mile in walking just for me & my magazines. So this little piggy with aches & pains + head like a swollen melon, cough, nose run, 4 boxes of MAN size tissues and more to go, my face is red roar from those, need girlie things. Yes I do, collected the links, wrote the content and designed the concept/site. Sorry about the delay Ro...GREAT! (you the owner of that site? )Some of my bookmarks gathered over the years: Sound Transmission stuff Stc,nrc, cac, etc At some point all these links come back here, so hopefully using my site as a reference will not be considered as pilfering :)
haha, that's okay Brien.
Hi I thought I should post my findings regarding Delta H Designs' ZR Acoustics. I've worked in a fair number of studios over the past 25 years and I have often been disappointed with the sound of the control room. As part of my studio design, I wanted to maximise room transparency/accuracy and minimise fatigue and guess work. I also wanted to maximise the use of floor space. I had read about ZR and I was very curious. So in a trip to the States, I had several listens to a bunch of Delta H Designs ZR Acoustics rooms, including Universal Music's new mastering facility in LA. I took a bunch of my mixes. I was very impressed with the transparency and detail, and the size of the "sweet spot". I stood in corners, sat on the floor in corners, lay on the floor, sat in windowsills (yes, windows!), by the door, etc - the stereo image was always there and there was virtually no bass buildup. I spent hours trying to critique the room "sound". I wanted to find problems. All I ended up doing was critiquing the mixes and the monitoring in each room. That was unexpected. I expect that these rooms would not contribute to listening fatigue. So: ZR Acoustics is real and it's in use in top studios. And the owners/studio staff seemed pretty chuffed when I asked them about it. I'm not prone to hyperbole (and just to be clear I'm not being paid to say this! :-)), but to my ears the result of the ZR Acoustics approach is incredibly close to the neutral room sound that I have always wanted. So close in fact that I have engaged them to help with the design of my Sydney studio: control room+live room. I anticipate that a bunch of people won't believe me, and I don't blame you - a healthy dose of skepticism is a good thing. I also appreciate that this is not entirely "on topic" - many of the people on this site are building DIY home studios, and this may not be for you. But for folks who are interested, if you get the opportunity, I recommend you have a listen to a ZR room and decide for yourself. That's the only way - trust your ears. I'll post again when the studio is built and give some more feedback. Forgive me for a little bit more hype, but the Delta H Design folks are a pleasure to work with too - across the Pond! Thanks RichardYep, I'm talking to DH. I want to hear ZR before deciding on an approach.
BLASPHEMY! Posting this on Johns forum! And you an Aussie... :) Well, good luck anyway ;)I anticipate that a bunch of people won't believe me, and I don't blame you - a healthy dose of skepticism is a good thing.
